So Marvel couldn’t figure out how to make Blade work, so we’re getting a Ghost Rider movie with Ryan Gosling instead.

Animation and action sequences aside, I personally found the Avatar Aang movie to be pretty middle of the road.

It's not the worst thing to come out of this franchise, but it should have been so much better.

Spoilers, I guess.

The Denied as a concept were petty interesting and if the film had better writing they probably would have ended up being one of the most memorable villains to come out of this franchise. But just like The Equalists in LOK season one, they quickly lose their mystique before they are relegated to generic thugs in the final act.

Wouldn't be surprised if they were the main villains in an early draft of the film, but Bryke or someone else on the writing team decided to reduce their role in the story because they thought they were too similar to The Equalists in LOK.

Speaking of villains, I thought Tagah was an underwhelming main antagonist. I get what the writers were going for with him, but I just found him to be one note and uninteresting. And look, no offense to Dave Bautisa, he seems like a nice guy, but I wasn't a fan of his performance.

Granted, the script doesn't really do anyone any favors with the MCU styled dialogue and attempts at humor. And yes, I am aware that Christopher Yost is one of the film's writers, but still. I'm tired of shows and movies having Marvel-esque dialogue.

I did roll my eyes at all the fan service. The fact that there are two Cabbage Merchant callback gags tells you all you need to know about the quality of the writing.

Overall, I didn't hate the film, I just found it disappointing.

The Seven Havens trailer didn't really do anything for me.

It feels way too fanfic-y and like I said a year ago when the show was first announced, I legitimately hate the fact that the online discourse surrounding Korra's character is now an in universe plot thread.

Yes, I understand that Bryke had to address Korra's controversial character status in universe because she ended up becoming a very polarizing character thanks to their shoddy writing in Legend of Korra, but I dunno man, this feels desperate.

Plus I'm not really a fan of the post apocalyptic stetting, as again, it feels way too fanfic-y.

I saw some folks complaining about the new art style and while it does look like Voltron Legendary Defender, I'm sure everyone will get used to it eventually. Bryke most likely went with a more simplistic art style so they wouldn't have to worry about going over budget.

I know tons of folks are most likely going to accuse me of being a nitpicky asshole, but I gotta be honest, I'm not really impressed with what I've seen so far.

Paramount decided to:

Hire Mike Z to work on the Avatar fighting game.

Refuse to air the Avatar Aang movie in theaters.

Dump the entire first season of Avatar Seven Havens on Paramount Plus after hackers threaten to leak the series online.

I know I'm going to sound like a massive conspiracy nut when I say this, but bear with me, I do think that Neve Campbell (or another actress) did record for X-Men 97 but was replaced by Carolina Ravassa during production.

The reason I say this is the because of Ravassa's performance as Polaris in the latest episode. It felt like she was dubbing over a previous performance rather than recording from scratch.

At first I thought it was the terrible dialogue or that she wasn't given the best voice direction, but the rest of the cast sounded fine.

Again, this is just a theory, but I think that Neve Campbell/another big name celeb actress recorded for Polaris, but was replaced by Ravassa during production because Disney wasn't happy with the original actress' performance.

Some of the cast have said that they recorded Season 2 way back in 2023/24. And it's clear a lot of the scripts were rewritten after DeMayo's firing, so it wouldn't surprise me if Ravassa was brought in at the last minute to replace someone.

I think the reason why the writing in X-Men 97 S2 isn't as good as the first season is because a lot of the scripts were most likely rewritten after Beau DeMayo got fired.

Not defending DeMayo, the guy is a piece of shit, but it's pretty clear a lot of new writers were brought in to do passes on these scripts.

How much of season two was written by DeMayo before he got fired is still unknown, some sources claim he finished writing season two before he got fired, while others claim he only wrote a couple of episodes before he got fired.

Whatever the case may be, the writing in season two is kind of all over the place. It feels like it's trying way too hard to tug at the viewer's heartstrings while also feeling like a diet version of the MCU.

You know, I often joked that everyone aged an extra couple years during the pandemic, but seeing a 45 year old Chris Evans looking like a 50 year old Chris Evans in the Avengers Doomsday trailer makes me believe that everyone did in fact have a bunch of extra birthdays during lockdown.

I know I'm probably reaching here, but my theory is that this alternate future version of Lex Luthor somehow managed to reverse-engineer Brainiac's Krptonian tech to use for his own nefarious purposes after Superman lost his powers.

It would explain why he has an army of Eradicators and the three dots on his head.

Guess this is the closest we're ever going to get to a Luthor and Brainiac team up in this continuity.

Hasn't this been the case ever since they started adding characters from the 86 movie into the Studio Series line back in 2021?

Everyone kind of knew that Studio Series wasn't just going to be live action stuff, as let's be honest, the Michael Bay movies aren't that popular with the majority of people who collect Transformers, so having an entire toy line that's just dedicated to the live action movies isn't exactly that sustainable.

I mean, it's cool that there are people who enjoy the Bayverse stuff, but I'm not one of them.

So of course Hasbro was going to start implementing characters from G1 into the Studio Series. Beating everyone over the head with G1 is the only thing they know how to do.

I just wish we had a single main Transformers toy line.

I'm tired of the Generations line constantly getting a new name every single year, just call it one thing and be done with it. And I'm tired of Hasbro trying to insist that the Studio Series should be its own thing when they're adding every character under the sun into the mainline.

Just get retire the Generations name and implement the Studio Series into the mainline.

I’m glad that Paramount moved up the Avatar Aang release date, but not doing a limited theatrical run is a mistake in my opinion.

If people showed up in droves for the TADC finale, then they’ll show up for an animated ATLA movie.

And yes, I’m well aware that we’re most likely not getting anymore Avatar movies or shows because of the leaks, but it still would have been nice to see a 2D animated film in theaters, even if it was for a limited time.

The wildest thing about the whole Bricks & Minifigs and Reckless Ben drama is Tara Strong trying to interest herself into the drama by making weird Lego related videos on social media.

I admit that I have no horse in the race as I don't give a shit about Lego, I just find it funny how Tara Strong seems hellbent on getting involved in this mess.

I know we’re only three episodes in, but I dunno, there’s just something “off” about X-Men 97’s second season that I can’t put my finger on.

The action scenes are still great, but everything else is kind of eh? I feel like this season is trying why too hard to tug at viewers’ heartstrings that it just ends up becoming melodramatic.

Like okay, there were plenty of weird unintentionally funny moments in the original series, but I could overlook that because it was still a Saturday morning cartoon. But the revival is clearly aimed at an older audience, so of course I’m going to be more critical towards its writing than the original series.

I adored the first season, I thought it was phenomenal and I was beyond hyped for season two, but I can’t sit here and pretend that I liked the first three episodes of season two.

The first and third episodes were okay and the second was a let down.

Hope the rest of season is better than this, but I can’t say I’ve been impressed with what I’ve seen so far.

So all it took for Polaris to come to her senses was a two minute pep talk with Jubilee?

I know it’s only the second episode, but c’mon. X-Factor spent how many months arresting mutant kids for the US government? But Polaris ends up having a change of heart all because Jubilee reminded her of her time as an X-Man?

I can already tell this season’s writing isn’t going to be as strong as the first’s.
