For anyone curious, this is how the first version of the garter demon project turned out. The current wip will ideally be twice as big!
I'd been avoiding this garter stitch project because I snapped my yarn by accidentally tightening my cables onto it 🙃 But I've fixed it enough to keep going finally! Curious to see how my attempts at repair turn out in the finished piece 😅

Turns out if you forget to put your yarn through the orifice it does not feel right lol (the take up felt crazy strong! Bc it was just going around the whole flyer 🙃)

I did some spinning yesterday! It was unremarkable but fun as always
Okay! I was testing out some options for vertical lines between my hexagons on my green sampler project and wanted to try a couple other options from what my friend charted out for me.
Their original was a yo, k3tog, yo, which gives what I'm calling a positive line (as opposed to a negative line of holes). The other two options I tried (which diverged from my one intended change) were 1. yo, k2tog (in that order regardless of which side of the fabric I was working on) and 2. yo, k2tog on one side but k2tog, yo on the reverse.
Here's some images of the three and how I've noticed the stitches line up differently based on how you arrange your decreases! It's neat to see how the stitches in the second photo stack diagonally while the ones in the third photo stack vertically with horizontal bars between them (though my tension leaves much to be desired lol)
I'm also interested in trying out a decrease away from the yo to see if it gives a more balanced look to the lines as there's a slightly heavier line along the side with the consistent decreases.

Hi tumblr. It's been a while since I've been here. Moving back in to try out the space bc Instagram is making me cranky and I just want to ramble about fiber arts and sheep and shit without feeling like I need to edit myself into oblivion to fit the brevity encouraged by other platforms. Anyway. Expect some sheepy rambles soon as I upload extended write-ups about the breed sample spins I'm doing for my weaving buddy!
