A sad note well overdue

I’ve quit tumblr. This happened a couple months ago. 

I decided on this after tumblr’s format ate ass, their terrible coding preventing asks from going through, and just... uggh. 

I’m sad to say this, I’ve ran this blog for a good while and brought Magdolin through a lot of stuff. That said, I’ve already decided on this. Those of you who I’ve sent my skype can message me as you would, but know that I’ve transitioned to discord. I’ll send you my discord server on skype if you’re interested. 

I love you all, but this is my farewell. <3

Creep - Vintage Postmodern Jukebox Cover

Through nothing else, with all the antagonism that Magdolin has thrown at IK over the years, there’s a ton of deep-set emotional trauma for Simon. And I know a lot of it comes with the problem of being all alone in an alien world for so long as a magic crown just entirely rots his brain to fuck. And I really wanted to find something that expressed that in music, and this was the closest to it. I think what I’m trying to say here is that for all the shit Magdolin and I put IK through, he really just needs a hug.

The Willow Maid - Erutan

You know exactly why, Teal. But for those who aren’t in the know (meaning most of you), this is one of the first songs that Teal showed me that really stuck in my memory, so by extension, it’s also the song that I associate with Willow-mun. With that bit of insight out of the way, time to elaborate on everything.

Ignoring the obvious “Willow Maiden” title, this is actually kinda tied into a rather defunct other bloge that I run. But when I first introduced Sky Captain Alexander (Sky Captain of the Skies) to Willow, he was spurned utterly by her. I mean, she had good reason. He shot Ice King and drove QGF completely feral through empathic ties to IK and it was kind of a mess. But Willow was drawn into a universe that she was not native to, and it was taxing on her and everyone. I guess I kinda use it as an identifier of the time where Willow had returned to the ATRP universe while the Captain stayed in his.

Anna knocks on the door, her rings clinking with each rap of the door. "Mr. Padrig. I do not believe we've been acquainted just yet."

A knock at the door at this hour? Padrig rubs his eyes and rolls over to check the clock, noticing that it was closer to noon than he’d thought. He groans quietly and stuffs his face into his pillow, laying there a moment before finally forcing himself to get out of bed. 

There is a few minutes worth of a wait for him to take his humanoid form, brush his teeth, and get dressed before he finally opens the door, still groggy and rubbing his eyes. “… who.. you know my name so clearly we’ve met before… I don’t remember your face but… fuck it I’m too tired to argue… come in… come in…” he opens the door wider for her, moving to the kitchen to brew some coffee and liven himself up.

She strides into the bedroom, her posture hinting that she may be more business than casually visiting as she takes a seat on the couch. Alert and attentive, she surveyed the room. Keeping track of where everything and everyone were around her, even though it seemed to be just Padrig and herself at the moment. 

"Allow me to jump to the formalities. My name is Anna. A noble of a newer kingdom, not far off. It is a pleasure to finally meet you, Padrig."

Her smile, while business-like and initially cold, seemed sincere. At least, as sincere as someone as formal as her could manage.

URL CHANGE INBOUND

It is the first of many changes. Anna’s coming about is going to change the blog heavily.

“This form will not do. I think it’s time to redecorate.” The form of Reprise was consumed from the inside, the core visibly hovering by a network of red threads, suspended in the air. A haunting voice echoed from the glowing, fist-sized sphere. “Too many lies, and too many wounds. Magdolin yes, but a guise is required once more.”

The core spat out volumes of thread, winding itself immaculately around the guidelines it provided. The red strands acting as a support, not just of form but of the creature’s life itself. Working it’s way from the ground up, Magdolin’s latest form was to be a true masterpiece. 

Gone were the heels of Reprise, or the ballet slippers of Sweets. Elegant black dress boots adorned with pristine white spats were woven into existence. Next, slacks, seemingly built around thin, yet firm legs that arose to a belt with a silver buckle. A white dress shirt, a black vest. Onyx cufflinks. A svelte form, notably tomboyish. Barely taller than Sweets was. Their hair, tousled, thick, and chin-length. Eyes of silver, and a button nose. The only reminiscent thing of the Magdolins before them was a single pointed tooth and skin softer than silk. 

They looked at their outstretched hand with a grimace, before a set of ornate silver jewelry wove onto their fingers.

“Enough of the Magdolin talk. Please, call me Anna.” She spoke with a confidence that rivaled that of Reprise, but with the mannerisms that made her seem almost royal. Anna was ready to play this game. Reprise and Sweets? They had already lost.

“Spare me,” Willow groaned in exasperation, both hands raised as though to stop Magdolin in her tracks. “I-I just dunno how else to put it to you! No! I-I-I don’t care about your magic o-or sanity or money or anything. Y-you could offer me the universe ‘n a half a-and the answer’d still be no. You..you’ve hurt me, hurt my friends, hurt my son, a-and you think I’m just gonna take your word for it? Even if you h-have changed, I still d-don’t wanna be within three miles of you! Wh…what can I say that’ll make you listen? Buzz off already! I-I-I mean it! And christ, y-you leave Queenie the hell alone too!”

With that fed-up outburst, Willow backed up a few steps, clearly scared to turn her back, then attempted to hurry on her way. She didn’t want to be around the thread woman for another instant, not if she could help it.

Her sneer dropped. She was becoming tired with the charade. The false accusations of her doing anything with Willow’s son, aside from having gave the child a slice of cake past his bedtime. Magdolin’s ire was being pulled to centre stage. She knew she must contain her rage, and not let the woman be correct. But that wasn’t like Magdolin now was it?

“Monster. Demon. Creature. Less than human,” she spat. "All things at the forefront of your mind in my presence. I have no doubt in my mind you wish to see the monstrosity you call me, yet only should you truly say it, will you see it. Of this I promise you. You have made a powerful enemy, miss Cadence. Fear for you and yours.”

Magdolin holds the door shut behind her with a wall of thread. "I cannot let any of these squid in."

“WHAT’RE YOU TALKING ABOUT- WHY ARE YOU IN MY APARTMENT- SQUIDS- EH- FEEELLLLLL WE NEED A BETTER LOCK ON THE DOOR. ANOTHER LOONIE GOT IN.”

The look of panic on Magdolin’s face was hard to distinguish. Was it panic at the sheer amount of squids on the other side of that wall? Or was she on the verge of laughing to the point of splitting a seam because of how many squids were on the other side of that wall. Her gaze turned to Padrig. 

“A door cannot stop me, and this wall alone will not stop the squid. There are hundreds among thousands of them outside this very wall, and they are throwing themselves at the door. Barricade yourself. If I can hold this wall, we eat calamari tonight.”

Magdolin approached in the older, more businessy form of Reprise. She smiled softly at the former fish woman before speaking. "So you're looking for a job? Interesting. I could help you, quite easily in fact. It's not just a bakery I own."

Willow glares upon seeing her, her current stress levels rising in a way that was somehow visible. 

“O-okay, M…Magdolin? I-I get th-that I stutter a lot, ‘specially when I’m ‘round you, b-but I…? I felt li-like I was real clear th-that I don’t w-want a thing t’ do with you.”

“I-I just? Wh-what on god’s green earth makes you th-think I’d trust you? A-all those times you hurt me o-or my friends, a-and you think I…I’m just gonna forget? J-just gonna let you hire me? I-I might be a lil’ desperate, b-but that don’t make me stupid.”

Her soft, motherly smile upturned into something wicked. A look in her eye that rivaled that of an enticed hunter.  “Ah yes. The dead woman you fear, who was sealed in a tomb and left to splinter. The Magdolin that appeared as three bodies and tried to eat you. Don’t worry now. That hunger has been sated for a long time. The glory that comes from a few fallen universes and kingdoms. Now don’t fear, my magic hasn’t grown from that. Just my lifespan and sanity. Reprise and Sweets are one and the same, absolved into one greater being. But as for the matter at hand...”

She reached a hand into her chest, her “flesh” shifting and molding itself around the appendage as she grasped at something internally, before pulling out a sack of what sounded like some sort of metal.

“You seem to forget how old I am, and where my investments have been placed. I am the owner of my own Maison in the forest that you explored with your nautical ex-husband. Or was he your ex? Regardless, doesn’t matter. I am willing to hire you on as staff for two hundred gold a month. If you’re not willing to take the offer, that is fine. I can stop wasting my time trying to help an old friend and go back to being one of the Queen’s suitors.”

She dropped her grasp and sighed, before contorting her form into the well known, but highly ill regarded form of Reprise. “Very well. If that is what you wish. But before I go, I leave you with a gift. Use it or not, it will aid you when you see fit, and will warn you of ill things to come.” Her chest pulsed with a red glow, before her arm started to convulse, a small lump rolling it’s way through and then out of the creature’s palm. It was a core. No larger than a walnut. And yet it glowed with the pulse of life and magic that was only contained by the fact that small core wanted to be. 

“Treat it well, and you shall have a loyal friend.”

Willow stared warily down at the pulsing red glow, lips pressing into a thin line. On one hand, taking it seemed to bear an unmeasurable amount of risk, given her previous encounters with the thread girl. On the other, accepting the gift just might be the thing to get Magdolin to leave her alone…

No. Don’t be stupid. It’s a bad idea. Willow had had enough of strings and magic for a good long while. 

She took another step away from Reprise’s imposing figure, then crossed her arms as if to hide her hands and prevent them from taking the core. “N-no thanks,” Willow said coldly, but at the same time, lacked the courage to look the other in the eyes. “Last time we saw each other? I-I think I remember you threatenin’ to eat me? Wh…what on earth makes you think I’m gonna trust you? That I’m gonna trust this? I d-don’t need your help to get by, just go on and keep…whatever that is.”

The core glowed red, shifting with Willow’s temper. It wasn’t until she finished her statement that the core reacted, sending a lance of thread into Magdolin’s shoulder. 

Magdolin merely smiled at Willow. “It seems to be too late for me to take it back. It’s already bonded to you. Look, it thinks it can kill me.” 

She raised her hand to the spear and grasped it, another spike jutted out into her palm, but it did not deter her. Her own core bloomed in her chest, and the threaded spear wilted in her hand.  “As for the eating you comment, I have no recollection of this in my newly combined consciousness. You may have caught me in a starved state, on the verge of a split. I shall look into this personally. Thank you, Willow Cadence.”

She smiled and took Willow in a hug that would have been far too comfortable for it’s own good, were it not for the hugger being Magdolin. That just made it horribly uncomfortable.

“I missed you all! I don’t really Want for anything. I’m a thousand years old. I’ve fulfilled all my material desires. But how are you doing?”

The tittering of the threaded creature was incessant, burning into the ears of those who heard her. It was a wonder more people haven’t tried to lynch her.

Willow grimaced. She wished that she could somehow hide the way her hands shook as she pushed out of the embrace, a shudder running down her spine at the feel of Magdolin’s thread “hands.” Hearing that she didn’t want anything made Willow feel even more uneasy.

“L-look,” she stammered, her voice barely more than a timid whisper. “W-we… We ain’t friends. D-don’t act all chummy w-with me,” She swallowed, trying not to think of the last time she’d encountered the girl. Hands facing palms-out in a defensive manner, she began backing away. “Y-you don’t want anythin’ from me, I-I-I sure as hell don’t want a-anythin’ from you… So let’s just go our own ways ‘n all, a-alrighty?”

Magdolin gave the wizard a coy smile before summoning a large threaded office chair that she quickly took a seat in.

“It’s mostly to show those who underestimate me. But yes, you are special. Can’t ignore that fact.”

“Well.. You seem pretty special yourself.”

“How do we know each other, again..?”

“There was once a powerful being. You chased her with your heart open and I tried helping. Through a lot of interference by the greyfaces, I was made out to have ulterior motives. They then pushed us against each other. A sad tale, yes, but the amnesia should at least allow us a fresh start.”

She crossed her legs and stared through the aging wizard, the char supporting her and now seeming to grow into her where she touched it, threads intertwining with her body.
