Thank you for the amazing Ghibli stills! ☺️ If it's okay to put in a request, there's two stills from Nausicaä I found on Ghibli's own site that I adore the framing of but the image quality is quite low.
Hey! You're welcome; glad you like them. And yeah, requests are okay! I went and captured these same frames from my copy of Nausicaä, which you can find below. Interestingly, the images you sent are 2 pixels taller than mine (with the black bars removed). I'm not sure why that would be, but I don't think it's much of a problem really. But yeah, there's arguably not that much difference between what I've been able to capture and the images downloaded directly from Studio Ghibli. Their stills/frames are brighter, a bit sharper, but with more noise. The resolution is 1920 x 1038, and the file size is quite small (<400 KB). The stills I've captured are therefore darker, not as sharp, but noticeably less noisy. The resolution is 1920 x 1036, and the file size is much larger, each over 1.5 MB - if you download these images and they don't match up with these metrics, get back in touch and I'll upload them to Mega so you can get the correct version. Otherwise, I'm not sure what more can be done to get a higher quality version of these frames, especially considering that the film is from 1984. It's possible that a 4K resolution version of Nausicaä exists, but if so, it's unfortunately not the version I have. Anyway, here they are for your consideration:
Thank you so much!
I appreciate the technical breakdown as well. The reduced noise is definitely personally preferable for use as desktop wallpapers, even if I enjoy film grain while watching a movie.
Could you upload them to Mega please to get around Tumblr's compression?
@three-thousand-worlds collection of Ghibli stills can be found here for anyone looking for cool new wallpapers.
Hey again @nsaidpoetssociety - I added the images to a .zip archive and uploaded it to Mega, which you can find here. I also added a link to the Links post that you ... linked, so everything can still be found in one place. So yeah, I hope you enjoy, and if you have any issues, just let me know :)
