Maybe this has been said before but I think there’s been a misunderstanding about what “AI makes art accessible” means. The people defending it know how easy it is to find a pencil and create. It’s not actually about that. The real sentence, the one they don’t say out loud, is “AI makes profiting from art accessible”. If someone wanted to draw, they would. If someone wanted to get money or fame from art without the time and effort and emotion artists put into their craft, they would use AI. The reason you can’t change these peoples’ minds by telling them how easily they can access the tools to create is because they have fundamentally different reasons for creating than you and I do.

Most artists who make a career out of their work make art first and gain profit (or attention) second. AI users look at it backwards. They see profit and only then look at the product. That’s why most artists kept using their original mediums once AI became an option, but suddenly social media was overrun with all these new accounts using AI and either admitting it proudly or lying and pretending they were against it. It’s the same reason people make AI influencers or slop videos or bots or anything that’s low-effort/risk and high-reward: it’s just another side hustle.
