Comeback 2.0

Hello! Remember me?

It's been four (!) years since I stopped posting regular updates from the Alderaan Imperial Family. Although I occasionally posted some pictures, Christmas massages, looks into the future etc., I can confirm that unfortunately, I lost the save and all the files related to the legacy.

There could have been more to tell, but that story run it's course. But I remeber how much fun I used to have, creating those sims, their stories, relationships, collaborations. Without a doubt I made so many great memories and friends during my time here that correlated with the pandemic.

That said - over the past month, I've been working on something in the same universe. So, without further ado, I'd like to announce that I will be making a comeback to the royal simblr with a brand new story!

This time, it's for real. I have a basic story planned out and created new characters to go with it. Of course, it won't be the same without the old ones, that some of you loved (if anyone remembers - it's been ages). But I had some new inspiration and most importantly, I hade fun working on it and can't wait to share it with you.

Since I'm not a student anymore and have a regular job (adulting hard), the updated won't be as frequent as they used to be the last time. But that gives me more time to work out the stories, smooth out the details.

The Imperial Family will celebrate Christmas at the Highwood Hall, country residence. Her Imperial Majesty Empress Irene is expected to deliver her Christmas Message on the Boxing Day.

How do your main characters take their coffee?

I feel like Irene, since she's still pretty young, would love some fancy Starbucks coffees, like Cinnamon Roll Frappuccino or Strawberry Frappuccino With a Twist. Jessica loves her Iced White Chocolate Mocha, and Felix prefers flat white. Joohyun actually prefers tea (bubble tea, to be exact, remeber this outing?). Both Woojin and Margaret are in love with chai latte. Alice and Alfred, who are unfortunately not around anymore, preferred plain espresso, as they were constantly working.

How is your country perceived by the outside world?

I think Alderaan has (or had) the closest relationships with Windasia (@wa-royal-tea), the Embassy, inaugurated by then-Crown Princess Sofia, is still in function to this day; as well as with the United Kingdom of Windenburg and San Myshuno (@royaltysimblr) - Empress Adelaide The Empress Mother is a native. As in the previous ask, Alderaan also has a close relationship with the Republic of South Isan.

How is Alderaan perceived by the outside world? Hopefully good, but it's no longer a majestic Empire that one day it was. Maybe someday it will come back to it’s former glory!

Which of your OCs is the reason we can’t have nice things?

I feel like most of my characters are surprisingly angels 😇

There's only two people who could fill the bill:

Prince Jacob Frederick (formerly the Duke of Beaufort) - he was under investigation as a suspect on multiple charges of tax fraud and money laundering, which resulted in then-Empress Alice stripping him off all his titles. He also famously divorced and then years latr remarried his wife, Sarah. His popularity never recovered and he disappeared from public eye.

Beatrice Frost (formerly the Princess Beatrice), the eldest daughter of prince Jacob Frederick - she endangered the Imperial Family with her behaviour not once, but twice. First with her attitude controversy that forced her to relinquish her titles and place in the family and then with her controversial interview, when she threw a bunch of allegations about wrong treatment by her own family. Were they true? Who knows, the official version is that they were not.

The apple doesn't fall far from the tree, I guess.

How is food produced and distributed in you world?

I never really thought about it if I’m being honest! I think Alderaan depends a lot on agriculture and fishing (as it is a seaside country) so it’s pretty self sufficient. Some of course comes from import - for example, Alderaan has a longstanding bilateral relationship with the Republic of South Isan, as well as with other neighbouring countries not (yet?) featured in the story.

Does your world have any superstitions? And how do your characters react to it?

As my story was (is?) a mix of a few different cultures, I think it's fair to say that there is a lot of superstitions! For example, members of the Imperial Family always have their calendars clear when it's Friday the 13th. They're also not allowed to open an umbrella in an enclosed space.

Members of the Imperial Family are not allowed to give their partners shoes as a gift - it is believed that it would make them run away. Ordinary citizens will also not be able to get a haircut on a Wednesday, as it is believed that the day is reserved for the members of the Imperial Family (previously a Royal Family), a custom that originated hundreds of years ago.

The characters in the story are very careful to follow those customs, I believe only outside members of the Imperial Family (like Adelaide) at first had problem in adjusting.

Irl I've been immersed in research for my master's dissertation which is centered on Thailand, for bachelor's I was researching South Korea, so that may have an influence on my story (especially the SK part).

What language do the characters in your country speak, and are there any other languages that your characters interact with?

I didn't realize there were people still interested in this legacy 😅 Anyway, here's a little outdated post with basic information about Alderaan. Official language is a fictional Alderaanian, but people of the Empire also speak in English, Korean (as there is a sizable Korean minority) and Simlish!

As for characters, Irene primarely speaks in Alderaanian, as do other senior members of the Imperial Family, but are also fluent in English & SImlish. Woojin, Jessica, Margaret, Felix & Joohyun are all fluent in Korean. Adelaide, as a naturalized citizen, learned Alderaanian but is luent in her native language.
