Thriftcrafters is in the cone of probability for hurricane Dorian and is unable to be present at this time. Please stay tuned for updates!
Alair is safe at his home near Orlando and Ivy is currently watching to see what happens to Melbourne FL with landfall still a possibility to directly impact her zone.
Safety updates will be given as Ivy or Alair are able.
Thrifty find! For a whopping .99 I got a citrine necklace! (I also found a mooakite bracelet on the same day for $3)
I bought it for the stones, but it actually fits so I might just wear it lol
I bought Witchy stuff on the Wish App, and here are my results
I have seen a TON of youtubers do videos about ordering from wish, and how it always goes a little bit wrong. So, I decided to buy the riskiest thing I could think of....Rocks.
I have been studying rocks and minerals for about 5 years now, longer if I really think about it, so I know what to look for when buying rocks, especially online. Most people don’t, which is why they end up with bad purchases and fake stones and end up leaving bad reviews complaining of FAKE! I searched for about 45 minutes to find what I was going to buy in order to best avoid fake stones.
Stones and minerals are so often faked, sometimes a stone is straight glass, other times it’s one stone disguised as another stone, sometimes it’s resin and plastic in the shape of a stone. So I bought a lot of rocks that looked pretty amazing
I had gotten it for $12 at time of purchase, with $8 shipping. $20 not a bad deal for 3 spheres on their own so I said okay sold.
Packaging wasn’t bad at all really! I don’t have complaints about how it arrived. It was cushioned with multiple layers of bubble packing, then a velvet lined pouch within, and then within some plastic bags.
So, really not bad!
So, are they real? Was it worth it?
For the most part, this was not a bad purchase. All of it seems to be real, if a little lesser quality than the ad made me expect. the only piece I think is man made, is the howlite obelisk. It has a really weird texture, and leaves your hands feeling chalky. I have never handled cut and polished howlite that made me feel this way after touching it, and the striping in the stone are all settled near the bottom. Makes me think more of granite than howlite.
The hearts are decent, not the best cut, but decent. The agate teardrop is beautiful, and gives off an orangey tint when held to light.
There are a couple of things I am disappointed in.
The main photo, shows Malachite in the small mix, I sorted through the entire little baggie, and got 2 itty bitty chunks.
Everything else was a mix of your standard tourist shop pieces, tiger’s eye, aventurine, sodalite, clear quartz, carnelian and red jaspers, and a bit of amethyst.
These are all useful stones for sure, but they are TINY; Everything in this set is smaller than the picture makes it appear. The small bag of mixed stones, the stones are smaller than aquarium gravel. Super tiny. Luckily for me, I have use for pieces this small, but most people won’t.
The spheres are 1.5″ in diameter, and I have no idea what the dark one is. I thought smoky quartz, but it is not see through in the slightest, so I am assuming it’s obsidian, or black glass.
My other complaint, is that the labradorite, amethyst point, rhodonite piece, and kyanite shard are all minimally tumbled and cleaned. The kyanite still had dirt on it from collection, and the labradorite has no shine, even on it’s semi-polished side.
The Quartz teardrop cabochon, is SUPER POORLY cut and polish, it’s literally miscut on the back so it isn’t what I was told it would be at all.
Hey thriftcrafters. I just uploaded a new video. Hope you guys enjoy!
Greek Heroes
Here is a question for you all. As I began to dive deeper into Hellenism I have started to become more acclimated with the heroes of ancient Greece as well as the Theoi. I have not personally added worship of the heroes in my personal practice, but it is something that peaked my interest for the future. The question I have for you all is: if you could choose your favorite myth of a Greek hero, which one would that be? Does this myth involve a deity you have interest in that would make the myth more interesting to you?
Thought for the day
Hey thriftcrafters. Here's a question for you. If you had to pick one item out of all of the witchy hauls that you have had, which item would be your favorite or most prized?
This is SUPER late on the upload (We talk about Yule in the end...whoops) But, better late than never!
Hello thriftcrafters. As I launch the new Daily Deity series I will give a preview of what's to come before posting the videos. I will be posting the videos on Fridays (my available time).
The first video in the series will be about a 30 day working with a specific deity called the 30 day deity challenge. Hope you guys will enjoy.
After several takes and some strange editing on our part (I am never able to have good luck with tech while working magic) Here is the next video in the Witch 101 series!
This series is for BRAND NEW practitioners, it gives you just enough to get an idea of how to start, and you can build on it from there.
Enjoy!
Zeus
This is the month of Zeus. Orlando had been storming all month. A lot of thundering and lightning happening. It doesn’t just end with his libation.
Hey there thriftcrafters. I am starting a new series on the YouTube page. Be on the lookout. I'm going to start with the more common Greek Gods and Goddesses. I encourage you all the message me if there is a particular deity you want to be featured. Keep on thrifting...
Happy Libation to Zeus!
Alair finally got around to doing some catch up editing from before our hiatus! Please enjoy Alair’s Libation to Hera, filmed in Ivy’s magical room
Ivy went to Goodwill and Dollar Tree today, and came back with a few really neat things!!!
“I gave myself a budget of $20 for the trip and I went a little over with a few personal purchases I didn’t show here, but overall I spent about $25 total. I got some really nice pieces for Witchy decor and some (hopefully) great books!!!”
Sort of Impromptu Live video today at 11:00 am EST
Ivy will be taking questions, chit chatting, and, if no one shows up, talking about her new books and some old favorites!
Correspondences and how to use them as well as how to create your own!
