Many people lately have questioned me on why teachers, administrators, or school systems in general should be held responsible for th...
Please read this, it’s very important
Many don't seem to realize how deep words can cut. "Just get over it," isn't something the brain of a child is developed enough to do...
Founder, Stephanie Elise Carpenter, will be presenting at the 2017 International Bullying Prevention Association Conference in Nashville, TN!
I recently learned about this method of bullying education while speaking with fellow researchers. It is a great step forward in the way we are handling bullying in our school systems. However, it still is not to the full level I wish to achieve with a ProHelp Bullying plan. Restorative Practices focuses on righting the wrong that was done. I want to not only ensure that is done, but also help uncover what causes the bullying behavior and help fix it at the source. All to often, bullying is an ignored cry for help.
Whether it happened to you, or to someone you know, all stories are welcome: Victim, Bully, Bully-Victim, Bystander, Parent, etc. Don't be afraid to share stories of bullying others, how it made you feel, and why you did it. The world needs to understand.

When will it be taken seriously?!
Today I was told of a bullying occurrence that has strong similarities to things I faced with the school systems. A high school boy was severely cyber bullied and had been able to obtain at least one solid piece of proof. However when he brought it to the attention of school officials they just blew it off because the accused denied it. This happens way to often. I lost a position on a school council due to having to spend time in officials offices because of being bullied. Yes, we need to help the bullies, BUT ignoring the victims is NOT the way to do this. Ignoring the situation does not help a child who is bullying due to depression, abuse, etc. AND it most definetely does not help the victim feel safe!
So I have been in RA training for the past week and one of our sessions made me realize something. A lot of my life revolves around my experience with being bullied. Being a victim and a survivor of bullying has highly impacted every aspect of my life. Even outside of this movement and the research I am doing. It is the reason I am always trying to help everyone no matter how strained it makes me. It's why the RA position has helped me so much because it has helped me be ok with being myself regardless of what others say and do. And most importantly, being bullied has greatly contributes to how much I care about everyone and how whole heartedly I approach everything I do. Being bullied doesn't always, or often, have this many positive efffects. When the effects are negative they can impact the persons entire life in negative ways.
Yes, kids will be kids. It’s the responsibility of adults to teach them!
The world these days seems to run on the notion that ‘kids will be kids’. This statement is true. However. what people seem to be forgetting is that if we do not teach our youth the proper ways to act than they will never learn. Allowing children to get away with treating others poorly is not protected by the statement ‘kids will be kids’. It needs to end. As part of the adult population now it is just as much my responsibility, as it is every other adult’s, to teach our youth what is and is not ok. They will not simply learn from the air around them.
I have added a new section to my website! I want everyone to know exactly what it is I want to accomplish with turning this social movement into a nonprofit. Yes, I want to spread the word about converting from Anti-Bullying to ProHelp Bullying. However, my plans go far beyond this. Some of you may be familiar with current Bullying Prevention Programs. My ultimate goal for this nonprofit is to create a network of researchers. This network of researchers will combine efforts for as long as is necessary to complete a ProHelp Bullying Plan/Guide. This guide will be based off of years of research done by experienced researchers and reviewed by many. The programs we have now are great, but they do not address both sides of the issue and this needs to change.
I'm excited for my meeting Monday about my on campus organization!!!!!!! #MTSU #ThroughtheMindintotheHeart #MaketheWorldCare #ProHelpBullying
This law needs to be amended, children shouldn't be punished for protecting themselves. No. Children do not need to be given free rights to record teachers. However, a procedure could be set in place to have a principle or guidance counselor give a child a pre-approved recording device should the need arise.
Teaser trailer for A GIRL LIKE HER – in theaters March 27th, 2015 ------------------------------------ Synopsis: Sophomore year has been a nightmare for Jess...
This Movie goes hand in hand with Through the Mind into the Hearts ProHelp Bullying mission! It kept me in tears after about 30 minutes in. It is the only movie like it I have seen thus far. EVERYONE needs to watch it.
They need us now. They need us always
The issue of bullying only seems to get mass attention for short periods of time centered around a tragic event such as a mass school shooting, or a suicide. This needs to change! Those shootings and suicides do not happen over night. Not to mention all the children suffering but not being pushed over the edge. All the time in between these tragic events is what is causing them. The fight to help our youth with bullying is a 24/7 effort!! #ProHelpBullying #theyneedusnow #ThroughtheMindintotheHeart #MindtoHeart
