Favorite Musicals of Each Order of the Knights Radiant
We’ve already considered their favorite boardgames. But what about when it’s time to go to a musical? Which musical is preferred by each order?
1. Skybreakers: Les Misérables
They think Javert is the protagonist.
Szeth: Is it not strange that the musical continues for so long after the death of the protagonist?
Nale: Ah, but it is only thus that we see the real tragedy.
Nale: As all of the lawbreakers go on living, without punishment, due the the lawman not being willing to fulfill his duty.
Joret: It’s so horrifying.
Cali: Yes, hence the title.
2. Bondsmiths: West Side Story
It’s about two warring gangs being brought together.
Dalinar: Although it is sad, it is nice that it ends with all of the previously estranged people bonding over their loss.
Navani: And it really is through music that two warring sides can be brought together–perhaps even feel love for each other.
Dalinar: Yes.
Dalinar: Wait, what?
3. Edgedancers: Little Shop of Horrors
Or at least, it’s Lift’s favorite.
Lift: I dunno why Wyndle doesn’t like it–it’s about a plant!
Lift: A hungry plant too, so it has something in common with both of us!
Wyndle: I–
Wyndle: Never–
Wyndle: That–
Wynde: IT WAS SO HORRIFYING, MISTRESS!!!
Lift: It’s kinda in the title, dude.
4. Stonewards: The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee
They were surprised at how invested they got.
Badali: It may not be warfare, yet the efforts of these children are so inspiring.
Zu: They truly do fight until there is only one standing.
5. Elsecallers: A Little Night Music
Jasnah just thinks it’s neat.
Jasnah: I have to respect the effort of composing each song in ¾ time.
6. Lightweavers: Phantom of the Opera
It’s about art, tortured souls, disguises…
Gaz: I gotta feel bad for the Phantom.
Shallan: What, because his love for Christine is doomed?
Vathah: Because it would suck to live in a sewer?
Gaz: Well sure.
Gaz: But also that one-sided mask.
Gaz: He must always feel like there’s something there in the darkness, something just out of his sight.
Shallan: …
Vathah: …
Gaz: N-Not that I would know anything about that, ha ha!
7. Truthwatchers: Lion King
They went for the costumes and ended up being blown away by the story.
Rlain: If Simba had just told the truth about his father’s death, all of that could have been avoided.
Stump: Yeah, well, kids are pretty stupid sometimes.
Renarin: Although by running away, Simba did get to be raised by two awesome gay dads, so that’s nice!
Stump: …
Renarin: What?
8. Willshapers: Scarlet Pimpernel
It’s about rescuing innocent (?) aristocrats from being imprisoned and guillotined!
Eshonai: It is truly inspiring to see a group of humans working so hard to free other humans before their unjustified deaths.
Venli: That Madame Guillotine song is really catchy though.
Eshonai: Yeah, you almost can almost understand the killing there.
9. Dustbringers: Wicked
They appreciate the overall message.
Malata: Yeah, there really are two sides to every story!
Ral-na: And just because a power is popularly deemed destructive, that does not mean it is so.
10. Windrunners: Also Wicked
Although their reasoning is…different.
Bridge Four, in their barracks: SO IF YOU CARE TO FIND ME / LOOK TO THE WESTERN SKY
Bridge Four: AS SOMEONE TOLD ME LATELY / EVERYONE DESERVES THE CHANCE TO FLY!
Bridge Four: AND IF I’M FLYING SOLO / AT LEAST I’M FLYING FREEEE
Bridge Four: TO THOSE WHO’D GROUND ME / TAKE A MESSAGE BACK FROM MEEEEE
Bridge Four: TELL THEM HOW I AM DEFYING GRAVITY / I’M FLYING HIGH, DEFYING GRAVITY!
Kaladin (wiping away a tear): It’s just such a good song.
I still think that my favorite urban legend/folklore fact is that there are certain areas in New Orleans where you cannot get a taxi late at night not because it isn’t safe, but because taxi companies have had recurring problems of picking up ghosts in those areas who are not aware that they are dead and disappearing from the cab before reaching the destination and therefore stiffing the driver on the fare causing a loss for the company.
An occupational hazard of cab driving I had not previously considered
I love that the nola problem here is not “ghosts in my taxi cab,” but “ghosts are FUCKING BROKE DEAD BASTARDS & I GOT BILLS”
Horror is when ghosts get into cabs and scare drivers Magical realism is when cab companies have to develop policies to prevent ghastly fare-theft
In a book about the tsunami in Japan in 2011, the writer talked about how there was a huge increase in reports of ghostly activity. Apparently in Japan treating ghosts rudely is basically considered the stupidest thing you could possibly do. For months after the tsunami, taxi drivers would pick up a passenger only to have them give an address in one of the devastated areas. The cab driver often looked up halfway to the destination to find their fare had disappeared. Not wanting to be impolite to the person (even if they were dead) they’d drive to the address, open the door to let them out, then drive away.
Yeah this all checks out
And you still cry every time
Though I believe in and support a post-cringe world, I would feel a little silly if i had named my secret organization the “ghostbloods” like you random generated that from the spooky word generator, mr fortnite . And you guys don’t even have metal music
I have never been more pleased to report that there is an actual metal band called ghostblood on Spotify with 14 monthly listeners but it’ll be 15 once I’m done with them
Don’t text Im listening to “skull mountain of skulls”
i dont think kaladin and adolin are into each other, i dont ship them, like those are friends, but i do believe deep within my soul that for a solid week after the wor duel adolin was just totally in love. he was seeing stars. part of it was definitely the head trauma. part of it was the adrenaline. part of it was that kaladin stormblessed is just Like That. but i figure on around day 10 of his self-imposed prison sentence it wore off and he just went "well okay im doing the right thing here and im not going to stop but also What The Hell Was I On"
adolin is lying flat on his ass in the arena watching kaladin put a knife to jakamavs neck and threaten to kill him and all hes thinking is "we are going to have a summer wedding" because thats the only coherent sequence of words his extremely concussed brain can string together
i haven’t been able to stop thinking about this
Peeling back the anxious thoughts is the toughest part, but it helps so much, especially when you write them down! Some of my favorite techniques:
1. What is the worse case scenario, and could you live with it?
2. What would you tell a friend going through this?
3. Will you remember this is in 5 years, or will you overcome it like you did with your past challenges?
I’ve been thinking about this little analogy for a bit, and it’s helped me reduce the weight a recent stressor has had on me. A manufacturing issue had been making me anxious this past few week, but when I stripped it down, it was just another blip that I’d deal with. I realized I had been adding all these layers of anxious thoughts onto something that I’d definitely overcome, even if the worst case happened. So I hope picturing your anxiety as an onion with a smaller, baby stressor inside can help you lighten the load of your anxieties!

Idk about y’all but my interpretation of Gavilar Kholin is just the Burger King mascot
Like it fits him I don’t know what else to say 😭
Ronald-son-son-Donald wore white facepaint on the day he was to kill the King
I've been super sick for the past few days and sleeping in the guest room so I don't wake @padenbond up all night with my coughing. It's been miserable... But one little girl is super happy to have a cuddle buddy all night. I love this fat cat so much! 💛 I hate being sick, but this is one nice thing about it 😁😻 https://www.instagram.com/p/Cpg_ZtAMKYZRa7eBqx16GDPeiDGZBr2GQJeHEs0/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
Reposted from @proverbs31ministries In a recent season of my life, I felt like the heartbreak I was experiencing was going to break me. The pain hit me with such sudden and sharp force that it felt like it cut through skin and bone. And it left me wondering if I’d ever be able to function like a normal person again. Pain is the sensation that indicates a transformation is needed. There’s a weakness where new strength needs to enter. And we must choose to pursue long-term strength rather than temporary relief. So how do we get this new strength? When the deepest parts of us scream for some relief, how do we stop ourselves from chasing what will numb us? How do we stop the piercing pain of this minute, this hour? We invite God’s closeness. For me, during this painful season of my life, this meant praying constantly. No matter how vast our pit of despair, prayer is big enough to fill us with the realization of His presence like nothing else does. James 4:8a reminds us that when we draw near to God, He will draw near to us. When we invite Him to come close, He always accepts our invitation. And on the days when my heart feels hurt and my words feel quite flat, I let Scripture guide my prayers — recording His Word in my journal and then adding my own personal thoughts. No matter where you are today … knee-deep in heartbreak, taking steps of healing or in the desperate in-between … today is a great day to invite God to come closer. - @lysaterkeurst https://www.instagram.com/p/CpZLttINcUvnUxPrMQ_j3r5UBca26DKhbAi4qk0/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

If anyone is looking for a new book series to read and fantasy/magic seems even remotely interesting to you, @brandsanderson "The Way Of Kings" is only $2 on Amazon right now!!! This book series, "The Stormlight Archives," has been one of the most compelling, life-changing, emotional, fantastic, fascinating, and well-written set I've ever read. And the few friends that @padenbond and I have convinced to read it have agreed completely. It has relatable characters, world-building like you've never read before, a system of magic that makes sense scientifically, good guys gone bad that make you question everything you believe in, bad guys going good tha take you question it all again, creatures almost too fantastical to imagine, and all of it is written in such a way that you aren't overwhelmed or bored. Ever. (Unless you count the overwhelming emotions during the famous "Sanderlanche" of every book he writes. Just ride it out!) So, do yourself a favor. Go buy this book, read it, get addicted and buy the next 3 in the series, become obsessed, and then thank me later.... 😉😘😜 (at Moundville, Alabama) https://www.instagram.com/p/CnmlbgerfBGjVgtPNRUymRMMU7pvIgWAXuv5LY0/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Reposted from @thechurchattuscaloosa No one has all the answers, even if we wish we did. There are some big questions we’d love to get some answers for but instead we’re left to wonder. What if God knew we’d feel this way and did something about it? That’s what we’re talking about in our new series Welcome to Wonderland. Starting tomorrow. Don’t miss it! Service starts at 10am. Yes!!!! 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻 Reposted from @the_hspcoach Unpopular opinion... Our emotions tell OUR truth, not necessarily THE truth... Sometimes other people's words or behaviour are downright rude, offensive, inappropriate or insensitive. (In which case we can make a conscious choice to distance ourselves from such people, or work on how we manage our internal responses - more on this below.) But sometimes other people's words or behaviour are okay, fair and just, but we receive it through the lens of our wounding and trauma...and it cuts deep. It is our responsibility to build our awareness enough to know the difference, and to find the appropriate help and guidance in order to heal. Our emotional triggers are teachers and will highlight what wounds still need our attention. Don't fall into the trap that the responsibility lies outside of yourself... You will give all of your power away⚠️ It is possible to get to a place where other people's comments and actions may be undesirable, and not something you choose to keep within your sphere, but don't impact you in the way they did before. If you need help getting to that place then drop me a direct message now. I can help 🤍 **Important note: The first slide is an actual question I received, not me calling anyone out for being 'sensitive'!** 🙏🏼 https://www.instagram.com/p/Cl9NslMPQJdFABWaBUAQa9wl3hLx4VWcNBSJlk0/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
