It’s something about so many people hating the word lesbian something about multiple sapphic artists refusing to self describe as lesbian and actively saying it’s an “icky word” it’s something about when Elliot page came out and the news articles labeled him as a queer woman despite him self describing as a lesbian at the time it’s something about people refusing to label lesbian characters as such but instead calling them sapphic or queer women it’s something about so many lesbians including myself hearing lesbian for the first time taught to us as a “bad word” it’s something about mean lesbian being so much more than a nasty stereotype but an expectation other lgbtq people have about lesbians it’s something about when I call myself a dyke lesbian loud and proud other lgbtq people basically flinch but when I ask politely to not be called queer as I don’t personally identify with that word I get called an exclusionist it’s something it’s something but I simply cannot put my finger on it hmmmm
