New Rocket comic!!
Sometimes, you don’t realize how much you’ve truly healed until something unabashedly joyful hits you in the middle of the day. You may have already resigned yourself to the pain in your life long ago, when all of a sudden, you find yourself smiling at the face looking back at you in the mirror— and you realize just how far you’ve come🦝
Enjoy!🫶

i do think the funniest thing about this whole tumblr notes saga is the fact that. okay the fact they rolled it back almost instantly to me suggests that this wasn't some malicious boardroom change to be more like twitter or something, but instead someone going "hey you know wouldn't people love it if they could know if their funny addition to the post was the best one?" and everyone went "yeah!!!" and yes-anded each other into implementing the feature while, crucially, not thinking to get user testing before rolling it out on the website, where their actual users all instantly went "THIS BREAKS EVERYTHING" and forced them to scramble to roll back. because shit. wait. they hadn't thought of that.
anyway, this is why ideally you do user testing,
Okay we are trying this again this time with clearer instructions and options.
Please read all instructions before voting.
If you are using the desktop site, mobile site in the browser, or an updated version of the app, please vote with the number of REBLOGS ONLY (not total notes) you see at the bottom of the post.
If you are using an un-updated version of the app, please vote "un-updated app." If you don't know what version of Tumblr you're using, please vote "I'm not sure what version of tumblr I'm using."
If you vote, please reblog. The purpose of this is to examine the new reblog behavior on Tumblr.
Please DO NOT add text to the body of your reblog.
The post you're seeing should have the word "Apple," "Banana," or "Coconut" as the first tag under the post. This is to track how the reblog behavior works with tags as opposed to reblogs with text. If you reblog, please tag and make "Apple" "Banana" or "Coconut" your first tag based on the first tag of the post you are reblogging from.
Again, the instructions are:
Vote with the number of reblogs ONLY (not total notes) you see on the updated app or desktop site. If your app hasn't updated or you're not sure what version of Tumblr you're using, make that your vote
Reblog this post without adding text to the body of your reblog
Tag your reblog "Apple" "Banana" or "Coconut" depending on which of the tags the post you are reblogging from is tagged with. Please make this your first tag.
How many reblogs do you see at the bottom of this post?
1-5
6-10
11-20
21-35
36-50
51-100
I'm using an un-updated version of the app
I'm not sure what version of Tumblr I'm using
Please reblog and tag with the same first tag as the post you're reblogging. This should be "apple" "banana" or "coconut."
You can add other tags, but please don't add text to the body of your reblog. If you want, you can tag with the reblog count that you saw when you voted.
You can reply, but please do not reblog with text in the body of the reblog.
Thank you for participating in this experiment!
Reblogs in a chain now get their own notes
The reblog chain is one of the things that makes Tumblr unlike anywhere else. All the notes on reblogs are attributed to the original post, no matter which branch people actually liked or reblogged. We want to keep encouraging conversations, and give contributors the recognition they deserve.
Soon, you'll be able to like, reblog, or reply to any part of a reblog chain, and that note will go to that reblog's author. Each reblog will have its own counts, instead of one aggregated number from every version of the post. And yes, you’ll be able to like multiple posts in one chain.
If a reblog doesn't add anything, the love flows up to the last person in the chain who did. Your post doesn't lose notes just because people spread it quietly.
Past notes will stay on the original post — we're only changing what happens from here on out. Retroactively re-attributing all of them would be... a lot.
This is just the beginning. More changes are coming as we keep building this out – stay tuned!
Hey so I feel like this is a bad idea and presents more incentive for spam and post-thieving. The biggest problem this presents is an even larger fracturing of information on what is already a rather difficult site to gather consensus information on. Are those who created the initial post now left in the dark if someone were to create a new reblog under their original post? Is the idea of any post reaching 1,000, 5,000, 10,000... notes now completely impossible? People do like virality to a degree, shrinking the sphere of interaction to individual posts risks individualizing the communities here on tumblr even further and risks hurting artists outreach on their original posts.
Roll it back.

A modern phenomenon I find really interesting is how big brands today seem to chase homogeneity instead of preserving their identities, prioritizing staying on top of trends and supposedly trying to expand their reach rather than having the sense to understand the audience they already have and evolve with them.
Tumblr is an extremely niche platform and it’s honestly quite impressive that its own team doesn’t seem to understand that it’s precisely because of how drastically different Tumblr is from other platforms that we’re here.
Not to mention the massive impact this has on content creators. If a big blog reposts you with some random comment, you don’t get traction on your own profile anymore, it all goes to the reposter. That’s only gonna make the site stagnate, because big accounts will stay big while smaller ones will have an even harder time growing.
This update reminded me why egg cartons come with a *contains eggs warning.
