some people are so caught up in the oppression they experience (be it sexism, xenophobia, homophobia, etc.) that they genuinely cannot fathom the oppression of others without tying it back to theirs and even then they refuse to believe that some people can have it worse or that oppression works in different ways rather than just the one you experience. relinquish the spotlight and build your empathy because pretty soon the reason people are being mean to you won’t be because of your identity... it’ll be because you’re an asshole.

I want to start this by saying that those individuals that make their way out to harass other people, especially poc and children are horrendous and disgusting people. What is your endgame here? Why are you traumatizing already traumatized people? How fucked in the head can a person actually be?!

I have no issues tracking people down that think that tumblrs anonymity or a few burner mails are actually saving them. These are serious crimes that are being committed and the Internet isn’t a law free zone. Federal laws still apply and repercussions can and will fuck up your life forever. So really think about whatever you’re trying to achieve here.

Victims, my friends and those that are scared: I am here for you and you can contact me anytime should people harass you or if you see suspicious behavior or heinous actions even crimes committed against someone.

Not only that, I am here for you people regardless of that. My place is an open one and we can always talk.

My heart aches for you and especially for the deranged souls that make their way out harassing people.

another post about dealing with the current situation in the pjo fanbase. here are quick articles about internet “trolls.” using the term troll definitely negates the severity of what these people are doing, but it is important to note internet-wise a troll can truly range from an annoying commenter to someone genuinely trying to cause psychological and physical harm. those articles definitely don’t have a quick-fix for what is happening, but they’re good reference.

here is an article on doxxing. i’m not linking it because it might happen, but instead for everyone to be informed. doxxing is different than pulling some phone numbers or a mailing address, so if someone threatens you with doxxing, they’re either a serious threat you need to report or a complete liar (the latter, it’s the latter).

here is tumblr’s harassment policy. i post it with a grain of salt because we know how this website runs.

@gaykatniss made a post about statcounter. they are absolutely right and if you are being consistently harassed i suggest getting an account; you can try it free for 30 days. of course a system like statcounter is designed to aid you and give you peace of mind, but if you are gathering information that way and the situation has turned severe you can report it to law enforcement.

people come on the internet for a variety of reasons, so i understand bringing what is happening online to irl is not an option for everyone. but if you need to and that is the route you have to take, here are articles on reporting online harassment.

again i want to stress not to deal with this alone. the people behind these horrible inbox invasions thrive on getting you alone, making you angry, and scared. it is absolutely normal to feel that way, but lean on the community as much as you can. these attacks are clearly racially-charged and are targeted towards minors, so it’s already like textbook crime.

anyone involved in the pjo fandom i highly highly suggest turning off your submissions so that no one can send you g*re or other disturbing content. its an option in your blog’s settings right under the option to turn off asks and anons. please be safe everyone
