Go my scarab!!!! We're going to imagine this is like, post-Erid landing. Or perhaps just prior to him scurvy-ing. This technically started as a study but I also really wanted to draw Grace's scars so we ended up with this EDIT: oh my god I forgot to flip the canvas at the end everybody pretend his scars are on the right arm Question for fic writers: Would anybody be interested in co-authoring a fic with me? I have an idea for a bloodymary longfic but I'm nearly positive I'd never write it if I did it alone. ^ [tagged with bloodymary for this purpose] This post is already hella long so my next post will be the speedpaint :)

Grace set down the bowl he had been mixing things in and walked over to Simon, whose chopped vegetables were coming out in very uneven slices due to a combination of shaking hands and blurry vision.

“Are you feeling alright…?” Grace reached his hand up in an attempt to feel Simon’s forehead.

Simon flinched. Like, full on, jumped backwards and pointed the knife in Grace’s direction. His leg muscles tightened as if he was preparing to run, but whether it was away from or towards Grace, he wasn’t sure.

Simon wanted nothing more to prove he could be helpful.

Every step of the way proved to be a battle.

Clearly, Grace’s refusal to engage with Simon’s outwardly destructive behavior had given Simon an excuse to turn that destructive behavior inwards.

The beam of his flashlight swept across the sandy beach, illuminating the rolling waves. The distant hum of the wave machine combined with the sound of water crashing was just enough of a comfort to make Grace want to close his eyes and go back to sleep right there.

But he couldn’t, not without Simon at his back.

For the first time in a while, Grace wakes up alone. Simon is nowhere to be found.

Until Grace does find him...in the ocean, with no pulse.

I'm definitely not the first to bring this up but i just think that Ryland Grace and Simon would make such wonderful girl dads. I mean they'd be awesome dads in general but Grace especially just has major girl dad energy (which prob comes from the fact Ryan Gosling himself is a girldad). I can absolutely imagine if they had a daughter and Grace let her paint his nails and eventually dragged Simon into it, which is why Simon has hot pink nails and is fully willing to use said nails to stab you if you say something bad about them. Or like, Grace teaching Simon how to braid hair and then catching Simon teaching their daughter to braid hair. Oh and the SHENANIGANS that Rocky and a bloodymary kid would get into... Grace: "is there... glitter... in the vents?" Rocky: "we have no idea what you mean.... statement." and imagine, like, their daughter coming around to the classes Grace teaches to answer questions and explain things to the pebbles in a way that makes a little more sense to younger minds. Or Simon and their daughter trying to make Grace breakfast and being awful at cooking. Or playdates with Adrian and Rocky's pebbles, which have to be heavily supervised because the *one* time they were trusted to play without an adult, they managed to accidentally cause an earthquake (nobody was hurt, thankfully). There's also some AWESOME angst opportunities for this... I have an idea for a fic that would end up including them having a kid, but I'm not sure if that's the way I want to go. Opinions?
