Lena turned to look at the DEO agent square in the eye. “I can’t remind you of something I have no knowledge of, Agent Ward. Though it may appear so at times, I can assure you I am not psychic,” she countered, before turning to return to her desk. “If you truly find the task of being here so mentally straining, you’ll find that the door is exactly where you left it upon entering. As I told your superior before, I don’t think I’ll be needing a nanny today.”

“Don’t mind me, miss Luthor, that was supposed to STAY INSIDE MY HEAD,” Thomas responded, embarrassed by what he had said. While his previous words were honest, he had to remain professional, civil. Lena Luthor was an ally to the DEO and Supergirl herself, she needed protection from Cadmus, from her own mother. Thomas could relate to that. “I’m here for your PROTECTION. I’ve been assigned to this by Henshaw himself and I will do my job. I follow my orders,” he replied. “I’LL BE YOUR SHADOW TODAY, either you like it or not.”

“Because you want to get revenge on your brother for what he did to you.” Daisy’s tone suggested that this wasn’t a question but more so a fact. She stood before the man that reminded her so much of Ward and tightened her hands into fists before crossing her arms. This was hard for her, but it must be even harder for him. “Look, if you’re serious about this then you have to do as I say and you have to pay attention. We don’t have the luxury of wasting time.”

Thomas’ WOUNDED HEART called his gaze to the floor, avoiding the woman’s eyes as she threw truths at his face. She wasn’t wrong; Thomas’ one and only goal was to end Ward. He had suffered enough in his brother’s hands to allow him to go on with his life. “Of course I’m serious about this---He might’ve hurt you, broke your heart or whatever, but HE RUINED MY LIFE,” Thomas’ voice remained firm, but the turmoil built inside him brought a tremor to his hands. “I WANT HIM DEAD, Daisy. I’m not signing up for this if you want to take him into custody. I want to put a bullet in his head.”

“Okay that’s fair, not EVERYTHING just most things.” She couldn’t help but grin while teasing him before handing him one of the knives. “I did it because I LIKE doing it, you really didn’t have to join me. I am glad for the company though.” She gave him a genuine smile before she started to chop a red pepper. “I’m at least 90% sure, unless you don’t know how chopping works or how to handle a knife, because then it goes from 90% to like 28%.”

“STILL RUDE,” Thomas’ eyelids turned into slits as he shook his head. “I had to! I would’ve been seen as a dick if I didn’t offer myself after you did. YOU BETTER BE because I could be taking a nap right now, but I’m here with you instead.” He took the knife she offered, mirroring her actions as he chopped a green pepper. “I can chop. I’M VERY SKILLED, alright? This will be easy peasy, but I’m not enjoying it.”

“I happen to be a female, so yes, I do.” she responded with a weak laugh. It was always funny to see how uncomfortable men got at the topic of periods. As if that wasn’t the very reason behind their existence. She grimaced at his next words, her resolve weakening. “Well, if you’re not grossed out by the half-eaten ones,” she pointed at the donuts she had just nibbled one. “I suppose you can have one. But just one, Ward.” she warned, however her tone did not match her gaze. “If you’d like to have any more you’d have to share something bad that happened to you this week. Those are the rules.”

“I know that, but you’re an ALIEN. I thought you were different,” Thomas quipped once the thoughts resurfaced in his mind; another shiver of disgust ran through his body. The topic alone was uncomfortable to men, and as much Kara was fascinating to Thomas, he rather drop the conversation altogether. “SCORE,” Thomas mumbled, giving a dismissive shrug to the woman’s words as grabby hands found their way into Kara’s box of donuts. “I’m greedy,” he added, giving his friend another shrug as he took three half-eaten donuts out of the box. “Your sister kicked my ass, AGAIN,” he mumbled as if that was the worst thing that happened to him that week; could’ve been for his ego, but he couldn’t care less. Shoving one of the donuts into his mouth, he shrugged again. “Fine, fine. The recurring nightmares are back, NO BIGGIE.” He shrugged. “Grant is OUT THERE, and the funny thing is, I’m not scared, at all. I almost want to see him again because I know I can take him. I just---I’m TERRIFIED of sleeping,” Thomas admitted in a whisper. The soldier shook his head, unsure of why he was sharing this piece of information with Kara. “Because---Every time I do, I’m nine years old again---I’m nine and I can’t protect myself. I’m stuck in that GODDAMN well again.” He returned the couple donuts left in his possession to Kara’s box. “Uh---Thanks for the donuts.”

Barbara’s hands wrapped around the drink that sat in her grasp, a smile pulsating onto her lips as the man who’d sat beside her continued to what she could only assume was herself, but really he might as well have been talking to thin air for all she could’ve cared. It was only when his hand had found its way to her backside and his breath against her ear when he’d finally caught her attention, and only a single word rolled off his tongue. Sweetheart. It was like poison and it only elicited a sickeningly sweet smile from the young redhead as she turned to him, her voice completely complacent though her words spoke a different story as she closed in on his face. “Get your hand off my ass before I take your hand, break those strong fingers one by one, take a hacksaw, slowly cut through the bone and shove it up your ass,” she warned softly, raising her eyebrow as her tone changed and the smile dropped. “Sweetheart.”

Thomas watched the event unfold with AMUSEMENT. While his amusement wasn’t resulted by the way the man was treating his friend, Thomas couldn’t hold a laughter when the man called Barbara sweetheart. The agent would’ve stopped the man’s advances if Barbara had asked him to, but Barbara could handle it herself, and Thomas didn’t want to interfere; he almost wanted to see Barbara IN ACTION. Thomas lifted his arms, hands hung in the air as his shoulders heaved in. “Don’t look at me, man,” he said, addressing the man’s stare. “You started this shit. She is CLEARLY not interested and YOU’RE A DICK,” Thomas shrugged, taking a sip of his drink. “By the way, for your safety---DO WHAT SHE SAYS. She broke my arm in a sparring session once.”

Your call, Ward.” Alex arched a brow at the male and shook her head. “Why would I talk about my feelings? With you, no less. We’re at work, Ward. There’s a TIME AND PLACE for everything.”

“Chill. You need to learn how to take a JOKE. I just feel like you enjoy kicking my ass too much and that is the reason why I’m CONSTANTLY challenged to sparring matches. And you know, I like my ass, I’d like to not get it bruised so often, but fine. LET’S SPAR.” Thomas sighed, but cracked his neck and stretched both shoulders, lifting his fists in a boxing posture as he stepped onto the mat. “Ouch, Danvers. That one really HURT. I thought we were friends.”

“If you’re about to judge me for eating this entire box of donuts by myself, then I don’t need to hear it.” Kara said with a mouth full of the sugary dough, sprawled on her couch. “It’s Friday, I’m exhausted from work, not to mention it’s that time of the month and all I want to do is indulge in all these millions of calories.”

“Okay, fine,” Thomas raised his arms in surrender before sitting on the armrest of the blonde’s couch and crossing his arms. He grimaced at Kara’s words. “YOU have times of the months?” He inquired, regretting moments later. Thomas didn’t want to know about it, didn’t want to think about it; he pushed the thought away with a shiver of DISGUST. “Alright, I was going to judge, but to be fair---I was going to judge only because you didn’t OFFER me one. Like, I’m right here,” he commented, gesticulating with his hand. “What happened to SHARING IS CARING, little Danvers?”

I agreed to this because it looks good on resume, and I like to help people.” She set the tray of vegetables on the counter in front of her and grabbed a couple of large knives before putting on a pair of rubber gloves. “Buck up buttercup, you can’t look more annoyed than the homeless people we’re making this stuff for. Besides it’s only a couple of hours you’re not gonna die here.”

“Okay, RUDE. It’s like you’re saying that everything I do is unreasonable. I only agreed to this because YOU agreed to this.” Thomas mirrored the young woman’s action, slipping rubber gloves onto his palms, his gestures slowing down as he gave Molly a DISTRESSED glare. “You sure? Because this feels a lot like dying.”

‘ can i help you with something ? ‘ riri quirked an eyebrow and sat up from leaning over a table that had an array of objects that would only mean that she was IMMERSED in her work. the white board in the room had been scribbled on in a handwriting that only riri would be able to understand because of how M E S S Y it was. the room was a mess, to say the least. there were empty coffee cups, energy drink cans and wrappers from big belly burgers.

“Yes,” Thomas replied as he gathered a couple burger wrappers that were within his range, discarding them in the nearest trash; DISGUST clear in his expression. “You can help me find a bar---You clearly need to take a time off and I need a beer.”
