Even though no one is talking about it, disabled people will be the group that sufferers tremendously (if not the most) compared to other marginalized groups due to this US election outcome.

If Trump repeals the ACA, insurance won’t cover our medical treatments, aids, or procedures. It’s likely that SSDI (many people’s only source of income) will be taken away, other benefits will have a work requirement that is impossible for most disabled people to meet, educational protections will be removed for disabled students, prices of medication (that we need to live) will go up, the list goes on.

Many of us will die, become extremely ill, and/or become homeless due to even just the repeal of the ACA and removal of some SS/SSDI (many people’s only form of income). It’s uncertain what exactly is going to happen and when, but disabled Americans are going to suffer. Please be aware of what’s happening to us these next 4 years, try to advocate as much as you can, and support your disabled and chronically ill community members (since the federal government obviously will not).

“Love Languages” are just common couples therapy techniques mangled and repackaged by an unqualified homophobe. Relationships generally need all 5 love languages to be fulfilled, which is to say, everybody needs to communicate with, spend time with, and do things for their partners, and that’s got nothing to do with any special way you communicate affection.

MBTI has been proven completely ineffective at predicting anyone’s success at a particular job, and half the people who take it twice will get different results. Reputable psychologists do not recognize it, and the company that owns the rights to it uses it to scam people. People don’t adhere to strict binaries in basically anything. Very few people are going to be exclusively introverted or extroverted. It’s just astrology repackaged as pseudoscience. Shockingly enough, you can’t boil the complexity of the human experience down to a dozen Types of Guy.

The concept of IQ is flawed from the start— “intelligence” is an abstract concept that encompasses many different skills, from social intelligence to emotional intelligence to the very narrow kind of problem solving intelligence IQ tests generally measure for. It cannot predict how fast you learn, how much you know, or how logical and well read you are. It mostly measures how good you are at solving puzzles. Coincidentally, it’s also a pretty good predictor of income and education level, take a guess why. Most people’s IQ will change throughout their lives, because it’s inconsistent bullshit we’ve only held onto this long because we’re still kinda hoping we can breed the ubermensch. IQ tests and the way they attempt to categorize people are explicitly eugenicist and racist.

BMI was developed by a man known as the grandfather of eugenics, who first of all was a mathematician, not a doctor, and second never intended the formula to be used to categorize individuals. It’s intended to give a rough estimate of obesity in populations, and it’s not even good at that. It hangs around because of fatphobia and insurance companies who want it as an excuse to charge fat people more.

The study which determined people’s prefrontal cortex was still developing at 25… stopped measuring at 25. Evidence suggests your brain probably never stops developing. Stop infantilizing grown adults. This is a branch off from the larger mess of misinformation surrounding fMRIs.

If you haven’t put together what all these things have in common yet, here’s the moral of the story: STOP TRYING TO CATEGORIZE PEOPLE. STOP TRYING TO PUT PEOPLE IN A GODDAMN BIOLOGICAL HIERARCHY. EUGENICS IS BAD, AND WILL ALWAYS BE BAD, NO MATTER WHO’S DOING IT.

Tumblr, homophobia, robots and artificial intelligence

GUYS, LET'S BE SERIOUS NOW!

It's nothing new that since Yahoo and Tumblr, many things have deteriorated in quality here. And well, with Apple's rules for the app to remain available in the Apple Store, things got much worse! But this platform wasn't supposed to become homophobic! Since those who maintain it to this day are the vast majority of LGBTQ people.

This isn't the first time I've talked about this here. In 2018 I even spoke about this topic. That year, I would delete my account, and I even deleted ALL my posts here due to the clear homophobia that was happening. (The publication is still available to read here)

What situation is actually happening?

For years now, Tumblr has been boycotting LGBTQ content in various ways. And while this was in the aspect of sexually oriented media, it was """understanding""", since the guidelines said that such content was prohibited.

And I could talk a lot about these quotes here, and why they lead us back to homophobia and hypocrisy. But I will refrain from these factors, so that we can focus on the current moment.

The fact is that there are now some labels that mark publications such as: community Label Mature; Sexual Theme and among others. But apparently Tumblr doesn't know what those words mean.

Because it doesn't make any sense that a photo of a couple made up of two boys/men hugging or kissing is considered "mature content" or "sexual theme"…

IT MAKES NO SENSE AT ALL!!!

ROBOTS AND ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE

Previously, as explained, robots using artificial intelligence carried out this check to identify whether the content violated Tumblr's guidelines.

And this created a big problem, as Tumblr began to take down and block posts of fruits that in any way resembled vaginas, photos of mothers breastfeeding, and even photos of statues and art paintings, which were considered sexual or explicit.

And then we then had the option of appealing that decision, where we would explain that no, nothing in that image was sexually explicit. And then, supposedly, a "real person" would do these checks, to check whether the image was infringing or not.

I imagine that you have already experienced the situation of your blog being penalized with an adult content label and even being left without a profile photo.

But nowadays, not even the option to appeal is being offered anymore. Posts are simply marked as "sexual theme" or "mature content".

Like, are you serious? I repeat, it's two guys kissing. WHAT IS SEXUAL ABOUT THIS?

My background is in journalism, so my knowledge in artificial intelligence programming and robots is very limited.

But I believe this works in a programmed way, right? Either these robots are naturally homophobic, or someone created the step-by-step guide for them to be able to identify that something is sexual or mature. How convenient, right?

It's not special treatment, it's about being fair!

See, rules are rules. We accept the agreements when we create an account on a social network. It's okay that almost no one reads them. But they exist and they are there. But why aren't they really valid for everyone?

It's literally full of sexual content here on Tumblr. You can easily find heterosexual sex videos here. There are literally tips on how to bypass this system.

But what makes me wonder is: how sex videos are out there, but two shirtless guys smiling and hugging each other is really problematic content for Tumblr.

So how come these robots can't ban this content? That's the question!

This is not a criticism of those who publish sexually explicit content here. Honestly, I don't understand this censorship and I see it as very outdated and archaic, it's 2024, you know? It's just dick, ass, tits and pussy, get over it!

Okay, we understand, but where are you going with this?

See, all these platforms are always preaching the idea of ​​how "cool" they are.

Work offices with bicycles, ping pong table. With cool videos on the networks. Participating in trends, but at the end of the day, two guys kissing is a problem!!!

It's LGBTQ pride and visibility month. Apple, Tumblr, Yahoo, and so many more companies and brands, hang pride flags, make posts about Pride Month, show internal rules that protect and welcome these employees who are queer, but at the end of the day, a photo of two shirtless guys hugging, is an issue marked as "sexual theme" or "mature content".

I'm still here on Tumblr, and that's why this long text is also a self-criticism: we need to be more attentive to who/and what we support and finance.

It’s raising living standards and curbing consumerism.

It’s global and local.

It’s me and you.

Climate solutions look different for everyone, and we all have something to offer.
