idk why online batman fandom is so surprised by batcest ships when batman comics are often in the gothic genre and one of the pillars of gothic literature is often incestuous theming. girl the batcest came free with your xbox

a quick comparison of the top batcest slash pairings on archive of our own by what percentage of works under each tag features that pairing as the sole ship for both characters involved.

note: the number of otp works is the amount under the "character a/character b" tag where the sole romantic pairing for both characters is each other. this was not done using the otp:true search function in order to avoid filtering out works containing unrelated pairing tags (i.e., platonic pairings or romantic pairings unrelated to either character). as this was done manually using a list of the top romantic pairings for each character, the number of otp works in actuality may be slightly smaller than depicted, but the margin of error is negligible.

top batslash ships by percentage of otp works: 1.) jason todd/tim drake (84.48%) 2.) dick grayson/jason todd (84.32%) 3.) bruce wayne/dick grayson (77.84%) 4.) tim drake/damian wayne (73.14%) 5.) bruce wayne/jason todd (71.54%) 6.) dick grayson/damian wayne (66.33%) 7.) jason todd/damian wayne (65.74%) 8.) dick grayson/tim drake (60.35%) 9.) bruce wayne/tim drake (48.91%) 10.) bruce wayne/damian wayne (47.17%)

a large portion of multiship works in batslash pairings is overlap between one another, which obviously impacts the smaller pairing tags much more significantly. for bruce/tim and bruce/damian, the two lowest ships by both total works as well as otp works, this is over half of the total works in the pairing tag. none of the bottom seven pairings break 75% of otp works in their tag.

the top overlapping ships for each batslash pairing has been placed under the cut.

i was in the physics lab today and we were working with lasers, so the Lab Freaks (legal name) were being very careful to stress that we Do Not Turn Around or Look Behind Us because we’ll get extremely blinded by the power of high strength lasers

and i’m not gonna lie it was actually extremely hard to resist turning around. i misjudged orpheus it turns out this isnt extremely easy actually

okay i’ll be honest i 100% looked back at the lasers. actually multiple separate lasers multiple different times. they were pretty

and i didnt get blinded. so clearly lab safety isnt real and you should always risk it cus taking risks is awesome #gambling
