computer add five billion more vexes to the sackboy a big adventure tag
anyway i drew and halfassedly colored a page full of this guy as an excuse to post my headcanons below. i didn’t draw something for EVERY headcanon because there’s. a lot. like this is actually a long li
hates anything sweet/sugary, LOVES sour food— doesn’t actually get “hungry”, but will gladly eat sour candies, lemons, and grapefruit
2. also has absolutely no tolerance for spicy food. he can survive a bell pepper, but anything hotter would turn the blue half of his face red.
3. detests being touched, especially with physical affection or playful jabs. ironic given how much he grabs and throws people around
4. nobody has any idea if the god of nightmares gets nightmares. any time someone brings up the question, he gives the excuse that he doesn’t remember his dreams, or laughs it off saying he has nothing worth having a nightmare over.
5. more on sleep— he doesn’t need or get any. but if he was forced to take a nap (he’s never willingly doing that, be for real) he’s out cold for hours. it’s hard to get him to sleep, but even harder to wake him up. i like to think that he makes himself comfortable in ridiculous sleeping positions that would make people think he got hammered last night
6. most of his negative emotions are of the irritable and cranky kind. he doesn’t get noticeably sad or depressed, at most he’s just moody. just your typical crabby old man
7. it would be extremely funny if he removes a piece of clothing under himself and there’s another duplicate underneath— in other words, he can’t remove his clothes. he can change/transform in different outfits but nothing is actually underneath them
8. vex is a renaissance man— meaning he knows and can do a LOT of things, his forte lying mainly in the arts field (music, theatre, etc.) but also in technical fields such as engineering. this might not be a real headcanon cause that man doesn’t live forever just to not know how to do anything.
9. …no doubt will still cheat in many of his own talents. even if his powers were restricted in some way, he’d still pull off a lot of stunts. i feel like he’d anticipate something like that happening one day
10. one of the few things he’s terrible at is spelling— it might be a miracle that he has some legible letters in his poor writing. though this may just be his best attempt at replicating whatever everyone in the current day is writing: he has to make his plans readable for sackboy somehow
11. knowledge is power. vex wants to be taught something he doesn’t know, making him fascinated by the unknown— most notably, death. an affliction that affects only mortals, yet their knowledge of it remains heavily limited
12. vex’s own “deaths” don’t count as such given that he’s guaranteed to come back. he’s presumably still conscious even after being defeated, based on cut dialogue about not wanting to “go back into the shadows”. that level of consciousness may be equivalent to going into a coma, or being stuck in a cramped space
13. since he’s been exiled from the physical realm a bunch of times, vex has likely come to terms with knowing that he will always be defeated. but he keeps a cheeky attitude about it to prolong the inevitable. the permanent existence of nightmares pretty much works as his insurance anyway.
14. in spite of chastising sackboy when he ruins his plans, vex doesn’t think having everything go accordingly is much fun either— there has to be a catch or a setback to shake things up a little. otherwise, there will be nothing left to do if he takes over so quickly and easily.
15. vex believes using his powers for good is incredibly wasted potential. making everything go as what everyone may want it to be (peaceful, safe, etc.) is asking him to do nothing at all. it’s against his purpose, being born of nightmares and dread
16. this might also be why a redemption arc for him is nearly impossible. the closest to seeing vex in a positive light might instead have sackboy either come to vex’s defense for a particular reason that only he knows, but can’t explain to everyone else why. this may or may not lead to many, many people labeling sackboy as a traitor.
the other “redeemable” option being vex saving sackboy from a different threat— if he lost his target to some rando, it would make him furious. which is a perfect excuse for me to repost this doodle
17. according to cut dialogue, he was (allegedly) worshipped by whole civilizations. i imagine that this might’ve started the trend of knitted knights: former villagers that decided to stand up against their ungrateful god. from there, it became a tradition of responsibility for someone to put vex in his place whenever he comes back
18. this one is actually more about vex’s minions. i like to think that they dress up and pretend to be their boss sometimes. some concept art a moot came across is what made me imagine that happening because genuinely some of these just look like a crude imitation made by several of his minions
19. let’s talk about his bitchless love life. this is not to say that he hasn’t had a couple of flings in his lifetime, he probably has, but they’re hardly worth remembering when he always outlives them.
20. if he had to have a preference, he’d want someone, doesnt matter who or what they are, that matches his lifespan or shares his immortality. they must be just as wicked as he is too, while also challenging him in some way— he doesn’t want to date a yes man.
okay those are all my headcanons here’s the full page bai
