The moral panic over trigger warnings often evokes … the figure of the oversensitive student who is not attuned to the difficulty and discomfort of learning as if to say: if we let your sensitivities become law we lose our freedom. I would argue that freedom has become reduced to the freedom to be offensive, which is also about how those with power protect their right to articulate their own views, no matter what.
