It would be a blatant lie if Steve said he hadn’t thought about this moment before, because he had… He’d thought about what it might feel like to finally be intimate with someone, but he’d always imagined it to be his wedding night (he blames the era he grew up in for that). Even so, being with her in this moment feels right. He’s nervous, yes, but only because he doesn’t want to disappoint her somehow, not because he’s scared of how he’ll feel after.
His chuckle in response to her comment about his words going to her head quickly fades in response to the next words she speaks. She’s fallen for him. And, God, somewhere deep inside he knows he feels the same. Saying those words is a big step for him, one he wants to take, but one he’s also scared of taking. Everyone he has loved has been ripped from his life and he can’t help but think that the same thing could happen again.
Steve lets his head fall forward, forehead pressing against her chest then as a smile stretched wide across his features because, maybe, just maybe, he was capable of finding love in this new century. He only stays like that for a moment, though, before her tugging him impossibly closer causes him to lift his head up once more, smile still in tact as her lips meet his.
Her next words take him by surprise. Decades. She… well, while Steve wasn’t entirely certain of her age, he knew she hadn’t been around for more than three decades. Maximum. But he wasn’t about to dwell on that. Perhaps she had just misspoken in the heat of the moment.
❝ I’ve never felt like this before either, ❞ he admitted as he let his hips rock against hers once more just because he loved the reaction it had drawn from her before. ❝ I want you, Adaline, ❞ he whispered, his lips ghosting over hers as he finally reached a hand between the two, his fingers wrapping around the base of his length, guiding the tip of it to her entrance. Slowly, he pressed in to her, his gaze fixated on her features, both to take in any expressions of pleasure or of discomfort– he’d hate to hurt her.
❝ I want only you, ❞ he added as his hand slipped out from between them, allowing him to press inside of her fully. God, he’d never imagined how amazing this would feel and they’d only just begun.
He’s careful then; grinds his hips gently against hers because he needs something, but he also knows that she might need a moment to get use to him being inside of her before he goes any further.
His hands search for hers and draw them up above her head, his fingers easily twining between hers. ❝ Only you, ❞ he whispers before giving her lips a chaste kiss, ❝ forever. ❞ That’s when he draws his hips back some and then presses back into her as if punctuating his statement with his movement.
he hadn’t felt like this before, either. adaline knew she felt something like this with her husband, but she was young, and she wore her heart on her sleeve, and she fell hard then. and maybe there was one or two more through the years, but it could never work out. she knew she couldn’t grow old with them, and without a future... love was just sadness. surely steve would understand, and even if he could still get old, even if she could still lose him, maybe all of this would be worth it.
a sharp breath washes over her lips at his movements, her own hips rocking against his, her then pressing a soft kiss to his lips. she wanted him, too, and he knew that she wanted it, her reactions certainly being more than enough, even without words. ❝ i trust you, steve. i want you. ❞ because she did ;; she knew he wouldn’t hurt her ( in fact, she was almost scared of hurting him ). he’s already done more than enough to make her comfortable, and she almost wants to tell him now, tell him everything, but there was no way for her to voice it all without sounding crazy, without breaking the mood.
eyes fall shut, just for a moment as he presses into her, a soft moan tumbling onto the sheets. he’s careful, and she almost wants to say that it’s okay, that she was okay, but the slowness, the gentleness, is something she’s more than appreciative of. adaline wanted this to be special for him, and taking their time and making sure both were comfortable was much better than just rushing to the finish line.
❝ you’re the only one i want, too. ❞ promising forever, though... what if he found out about her past and then wanted nothing to do with her? adaline trusts him, but there was only so much that someone could lie to another about without it destroying a whole relationship.
but thoughts could only last so long, fingers lacing with his, gently gripping as lips briefly meld together once more. ❝ forever is quite a long time, ❞ she whispers against his lips, her kisses then travelling down his jawline, soft moans spilling out the more he does, wanting to give him as much attention as he was giving her, wanting to make him feel just as good, if not better. because he deserved it, more than he probably thought.
legs loosely wrapping around his waist, she allows him to set the pace ;; adaline was happy just being this close, finding someone like him. ❝ you won’t hurt me, don’t worry about anything, okay? i promise i’ll say something if it gets too much --- and you, too. i want you, i trust you. ❞
