The basic idea that some specific things are physically more difficult for women as a group, because female bodies have different physical abilities, could only sound misogynistic and infantilizing to you if you think people with different physical abilities are lesser and should be infantilized. I'm pretty sure there's a word for that...

When men claimed that a woman's uterus would prolapse from running a marathon, they hadn't arrived at that conclusion from funding medical research on female bodies. They didn't bother. They just assumed we were a more fragile copy of men and so probably couldn't do anything. The fact that their solution wasn't "we'll develop a more suitable athletic event," but simply "you'll stay home," further proves the organizers weren't motivated to promote our health, safety, and fitness, but to push us out of participation in public life.

That's nowhere near the same thing as professionals doing actual research, finding that female bodies do not follow the same rules as male bodies, and recommending different things for women's and men's athletics. Comparing the two gives misogynists way too much credit.

Support for female athletes must be informed by our differences, not by unfounded assumptions of what they are or aren't. Operating on the presupposition that female bodies can perform identically to male ones in every metric, just because that sounds right to you, is not feminist. It's applying an andronormative standard.

I can hold that women and men are equal in value and humanity, without needing to believe that we have the exact same physical abilities, because I am not ragingly ableist.

A big thing in so-called progressive spaces is criticizing women for being suspicious of random men, and insisting that there must be a racist/ableist/classist/anti-homeless bias at play, while conveniently forgetting that the woman in question (any woman) is a marginalised person doing what they can to avoid being hate-crimed (assaulted, raped or murdered) by a member of an oppressor class.

i had an eye-opening moment when i realised that 90% of the mainstream portrayals of women were written, designed and promoted by... men.

as always, we were sold a lie about what it means to be a woman. femininity is a lie, this archetype of tender, forgiving and fawning nurturer has its origins in male minds. it has never existed, yet was imposed on us by those who clearly profit from it.

high school mean girls, mysterious seductresses, self-sacrificing mothers, forever hovering above stovetops and diapers, innocent yet coquettish virgins in white, flowing robes - none of them is an organic image, none of them is real.

they are always clean shaven, full of grace and perfect make-up, long hair, dark lashes to bat at distinguished gentlemen, soft voices and limp wrists. they were made to serve as a self fulfilling prophecies, they were made to be perfect, yet they don't exist.

we were made to believe that our body hair, skin tones, loud voices are unnatural, disgusting. our humanity portrayed as savagery, alien like sickness to be hidden forever in shame. i'm sick of this.

A lot of mothers push femininity on their daughters at least in my case. I was not allowed to ask for “boy toys” and had dolls against my wishes, was pressured and coerced by my mother to wear make up, like shoved in my face pretty much couldn’t say no right before lining up for picture days, would start a full face soon because other girls did,wanted my mothers approval, and it seemed expected.

As a child I thought I needed to be beautiful in order to be worthy of love and respect. I was encouraged to diet, and then vomit, by my mother,  who encouraged me to have anorexia then punished me for gaining weight. 

I was pressured to wear skinny jeans and tight clothing when I didn’t feel comfortable showing off my body. Then told it was because I was wearing tight clothing that boys harassed me. 

Such a mind fuck.

Feminization is socially acceptable child abuse against girls, its the social conditioning of breaking girls down and teaching them early where their core value lies.

The amount of shitty makeup kits I got as a child is honestly appalling now that I think about it. I guarantee I was between 6-8 when I got my first gifted makeup set. I never asked about it before. I might have curiously watched my mom put hers on but I never cared about. But pretty much once a year without fail my sister and I would both get a new makeup kit. Fucking ridiculous.
