A Letter From E.P. King Sent The 17th of October, 2014
Greetings Dear Timothy,
I recognize that it has been a long time since I last wrote you darling, but you must remember that my responsibilities here in the city have far surpassed what you remember from last I wrote. The pace; the rhythmic sound of the cars passing the large window of the cafe I sit in, drinking my long since cold liquid drug; the music that emanates from nearly every corner; the smell of gasoline mixed with herbs and the carbonization of dead animals; the ancient brick and stonework that surrounds me... something about this place resonates with me in a way that our little town never did. It feels so much more alive, like there is opportunity at every turn.
Yesterday, I began work on that business idea I told you about. It was in the midst of a number of other things that had to be attended to and I still have a number of other things to address before I can continue in that venture, but something tells me that this venture could be quite profitable. There is no other individual that I can find in this place that has quite the same thought as I do and I think this will work well. I also had a meeting yesterday with Professor Arnold. She's a dear and quite helpful. There were some things that I overlooked in my planning that she pointed out and I will have to address, but it seems that most everything is falling in place rather well. With any luck, this wretched period of research and study shall be over in a year or so, though I won't hold my breath that the powers that be will give me hell for warping their system, though who knows, I might be able to stay below their watch.
It seems today that there is much administrative work to take care of and possibly a task in the evening that could bring me some mild monetary profit, but it seems that my task-list has only increased with the pace of my residence. I hope that you are doing well and I do wish to hear from you soon. It has been a rather lengthy bit of time since I last heard of your adventures.
All the best,
- E.P. King
P.S. Did you ever finish that project you told me about? You really should send that along if you finished it. I would very much enjoy reading it.
Today’s the day. The day you help save the internet from being ruined.
Ready?
Yes, you are, and we’re ready to help you.
(Long story short: The FCC is about to make a critical decision as to whether or not internet service providers have to treat all traffic equally. If they choose wrong, then the internet where anyone can start a website for any reason at all, the internet that’s been so momentous, funny, weird, and surprising—that internet could cease to exist. Here’s your chance to preserve a beautiful thing.)

Extremely personal piece. Doesn’t really need that much explanation.
*apologies if it turns up pixelated, just click the picture for a full res. view
What’s really sad about this is how accurate it is. There’s so much pressure and this pic really got to me because I’m going through all of this. And it sucks.

Plug It On The Window
The Window Socket offers a neat way to harness solar energy and use it as a plug socket. So far we have seen solutions that act as a solar battery backup, but none as a direct plug-in. Simple in design, the plug just attaches to any window and does its job intuitively.

Oh my god
This is awesome.
Hamburg, Germany’s Plan to Eliminate Cars
"Welcome to Hamburg, an environmental pioneer in the mould of its regional neighbour Copenhagen. Its planned green network will cover 40% of the city’s area. “It will connect parks, recreational areas, playgrounds, gardens and cemeteries through green paths”, Angelika Fritsch, a spokeswoman for the city’s department of urban planning and the environment.”
