Silk Vs Steel

A recent movement in the Leivantz political sphere is a revision of parlimentary process. At the front are many prominent figures in the Leivantz artistic sphere. Staunch opponents of the revision are those who either really enjoy fighting or those who are aware of what goes on in The Civil Suit(e) after hours; the former group is responsible for calling revisionists "silks," after their suggested parlimentary uniform. Extremists among the revisionist camp refer to their opposition as "steels" for similar reasons.

NPC Bio: Prophet Rhythm

Prophet Rhythm is what some faiths would call an overworked associate pastor. Being one of the few prophets that understands being a visible zealot is somewhat disturbing, Rhythm tries to remain more down-to-Eldryn. Unfortunately, this also results in Rhythm taking on more of the organizing tasks that the others are a little too busy to do. She spends quite a few evenings at The Civil Suit(e), a tavern located near the parlimentary complex. If near an injured character, Rhythm will regularly cast healing spells on that character until they're fully healed.

I suppose it would be helpful to note that I'll be using "H11 Development" for everything related to this. I'll also be tracking it, so that it can be the place to post class descriptions, suggestions, etc. This is due to the nature of Hayven 11; an effort to communally generate class descriptions would probably benefit from the visibility this method generates, and may get people interested in Hayven 11 itself.

ask-commander-shield-scales answered: are you gonna use the class list made by the hayven 11 mods or make your own classes?

The goal is to adhere to Hayven 11 as closely as possible. I'm talking about taking the class list from the original table, and writing descriptions for every item, and not much else when it comes to classes.

Though I did change the L50 (option 2) class for lightbringer from "Paladin(?)" to "Herald" as a working title, after thinking of Dragon Age Inquisition. They could be functionally similar, but a name that would reflect the path taken seemed appropriate. The curators of Hayven 11 still get to say what happens in Hayven 11, and any system I build is going to try to match what they declare.

I'm thinking of migrating timeless to another game system. Pathfinder is well built, but it is fairly self contained and isn't very good for homebrew, especially when the entire bestiary needs re-writing. Also, falling is OP. I've been looking at OpenQuest (like Basic Roleplaying, the system behind runescape, but free), and without reading the manual it seems to be very friendly to doing user-defined things.

Yep, user defined; I'm going to try and develop classes. If the class description list is going to sit as "coming soon" for a few months and the project is meant to be collaborative, I'm sure it would be well within the spirit of the game for the "players" to collectively determine what the classes are. Basically, I'd rather not just do this myself as a matter of principle, especially since I'm pretty sure there's a few tabletop fans at least watching H11. I think Thattagen should get the final say on what's official H11 rules, and so I'll just copy the class list and make a separate version. The detail required of the descriptions will end up being dependent upon the system chosen, and so for now:

Any thoughts? Any suggestions for game systems? Is this okay with the sole curator of Hayven 11?

Placed in a separate post so it doesn't bog down the cinematography with words irrelevant to anyone not doing the same thing I am.

So In the description, I mention that "success is determined by d20 rolls." That's not 100% true, as during the sequence leading up to the actual boss confrontation I didn't roll a single die. However, I did roll quite a few dice while writing the boss confrontation, as the captions should suggest.

I wrote out a relatively incomplete stat block for the boss (CR 2 going against timeless wouldn't need to worry about saving throws), and a relatively incomplete stat block for timeless basing her loosely off of the pathfinder monk, replacing the core stat Wis with Str. The most damage she can do with an ordinary attack right now is an air charge leading into an unarmed strike. However, she didn't air charge at the last strike, she climbed to the ceiling of the cave and dropped.

The way Pathfinder handles fall damage is meant to hurt players, as natural flight for player characters is not really a thing for most characters, and those that would have natural flight would do well to have some points in acrobatics. Players that can't fly and don't have high acrobatics skill take the damage that they would take from an equivalently sized object falling on them. Things that a medium sized player character falls on will take the same damage, if damageable. That damage is 3d6. I treated it as an attack, and the roll to hit was critical.

So basically, Timeless fell on the boss and critically succeeded at falling on the boss. She took 5 damage from the impact herself, due to the passing of a mitigating acrobatics check.

I'm going to try and come up with a way to handle offensive falling so that it's not so overpowered, but I let it slide in this instance. The reason why I did is something you should think about, if you're the kind of person that likes thinking about things.

Headcannon: There are several veins of glowing crystals within the Qorun mines.

Crystal Mite (giant): Measuring up to 70cm in length, these are crystal mites that have been left alone to feed for too long. If they appear in a more developed mine shaft, it is a sign that the mine has been abandoned for months. They are immune to crushing damage, and resist slashing due to natural hardness.

What is your fighting style? What weapons do you prefer?

I’m building a brawler, and what exactly a brawler does is yet to be released. I’ve built up unarmed strikes and improvised weaponry more than anything else, though I’ve got a few points in polearms thanks to working the Leivantz Lawyer job so much.

As for style, I usually do a lot more aerial strikes, but it’s still basically “punch and block until its HP hits zero.”

and maybe strategic crippling if it’s an option. and maybe creative thinking when the situation requires it.
