Lemon Drops | Campana | Chapter 6 | Closed for Sekitan
As Campana began to explain herself, Sekiâs smile slowly started to fade. That hit almost too close to home. When Campana started to cry he brushed her hand with his own, as if asking for permission to hold it. Not too long ago, it was Riku who helped him out of his lonely darkness, and perhaps he could help this girl too.
âYou donât have to be alone anymore.â He gave the girl a soft smile and hoped it did justice to the man who saved his life. â8 years is a long time to suffer, and I doubt Riku and Kanto-san will allow you to feel that way again. Plus now you got me!â He said with a toothy grin.Â
âAnd uhm⌠well, I donât exactly have a home to go back to anymore. Monokuma made sure of that⌠But, itâs okay. If anything I feel like I really discovered something really really important because of this mess, as screwed up as it sounds. Besides, my home is currently in this garden. Iâm sure theyâd want you to come with us if we ever decide to leave! I mean, Iâd want you to come with us.â
There was something about Campana that Seki really liked. Even if he didnât know what sheâd been through the past 8 years since coming here, he felt like he understood it much more than anyone ever would. She was like him, only smarter, and quicker. And heâd be damned if he let her be swallowed up in that eternal loneliness again.
Campana gave a sharp intake as something brushed against her palm, and looked down to find his hand. Her cheeks flushed a light pink as she reached forward and albeit hesitantly took his hand in hers. She stayed quiet for a brief moment, before raising her free hand to wipe her tears away in one single quick movement.
"That's what Riku said, too. But... Despite them saying I deserve it, I know I don't. I'm just a bad luck charm, Seki. Anyone who gets close to me is hurt or dies. It always happens eventually. You shouldn't be around someone like me. You'll get hurt, and I don't want that." She gave a gentle sigh.
She seemed a little startled as he continued, staring up at him wide eyed. "You... You want me around you? Really?" The thief fought back tears once more as she forced a wobbly smile. "Why the hell would you wanna torture yourself like that, Seki? Actually, don't answer." She sunk back into silence almost immediately, before taking a deep breath to steel herself before she continued.
"If you really mean what you say... That you'd like me to stay, then..." The former steeling proved useless as she burst into tears and moved forward to wrap him into a hug. "P-Please don't leave me alone...! Please stay with me! I don't want to be alone anymore! It f-fuckin' hurts to have everyone you care about ripped from y-you... Please don't g-go... I'll do anything..."
