Angsty Midorima Headcanons

When Midorima was in elementary school, he threw a birthday party and invited everyone in his class. No one showed up and now he doesn’t celebrate his birthday anymore.

I could’ve sworn I already made a post about this one but I can’t find it so; Midorima used to get bullied as a kid. This happened pretty much because he’s a tall, green-haired nerd with an astrology obsession.

Midorima plans to go into medical school, so in college he studies extra hard to make sure he can get in. By studying extra hard I mean: he gets at most 4 hours of sleep, does not and will not give himself breaks, and doesn’t hang out with any friends at all. He’s also still playing basketball on top of this. Eventually, he makes the difficult decision to quit basketball (to give himself more study time).

I think Midorima had an “Oh shit, I’m an asshole” moment sometime between the Inter High and the Winter Cup (not counting him losing to Kuroko). The person that caused this awakening for him was Takao. They got into some sort of argument during basketball practice, which led to Midorima saying some mean things. Then Takao said something along the lines of “this is why we lost to Seirin,” stormed off, then gave Midorima the Silent Treatment™.

Midorima fully blames himself for Akashi’s ‘change’ in middle school. He believes that since he saw the signs beforehand, he could’ve done something to prevent it from happening. Now that the “Normal” Akashi is back, Midorima swore to himself that he would never let Akashi revert back to “the Emperor”. (He still wants to kick Akashi’s ass in basketball tho.)

After the Winter Cup and before the next year’s Inter High, Midorima accidentally overworks himself from overdoing his limits during his personal practice time. Because of this, he was forced to take a week off from practice. From the pure boredom and emptiness he feels from not being able to play, he ends up having a meltdown.
