Conclusion

From doing the different tasks in this brief, it has taught me to think about shape, colour, texture and how a viewer will see the ident. It has helped me to understand the make up of idents and how it should represent a brand. I have enjoyed the process of researching my chosen brand and obtaining the footage to work with. Keeping it local allowed me to obtain recognisable images which would be associated with the channel. I had to think while taking images how it would look and affect my motion graphic in post production. It has helped me plan ahead and think of the final look. I have also learned to be more confident in 3D work, even though i will need to go over the rendering aspect of importing animation into Ae. I have enjoyed all parts of this brief and will take what i have learnt forward.

I have viewed my sequenced ident and decided to change the ending scenes. Where as I had the red logo path line tracking across the sky and turning in before the right lamppost, I thought that it looked too sharp and not natural. It looked like its did a hand brake turn to the front of the centre!. I decided to re do this part and have the path line track straight across the sky then return back into the front of the centre. I think it flows better in the overall sequence and compliments the other coloured path lines movements. I will now recheck the audio to make sure the end still fits the extra timings.

I have used the uni spiral staircase as the focus point and centred the logo. I like how the golden light stands out in the image against the blue tones of the staircase.

I wanted to play with lighting and create a golden light effect on the logo in Maya. The light is focused at the centre adding shading to the ends.

I have used actual uni footage and decided to create the logo at the end of the pan. I have created it to look semi transparent, but the filming above on my camera makes it hard to see this.

On this logo i have started to make the logo transparent.

This is the 3D work I did in Jason's Maya workshop. I am really happy with the result. I experimented with shadows and light for when the logo sweeps around. I completed this but since need to ask Jason to go over the rendering aspect in Maya because i cannot get the animation to work in AE. I have said before on a earlier post.

In Maya i changed the colour completely and added a shadow effect to help make the 3D aspect stand out. I came across the sign while waiting for the Bay train and thought it would be interesting if the logo appeared under the USW sign as this is what people would see if travelling in for the event by train. I decided pan down with the camera, so it seems that you are looking down at the Ffresh logo. In AE I keyed the logos position so that it revealed itself when I panned down. Again I have kept the original audio of the station. I like how this turned out as it incorporates the Ffresh awards location as well as the event.

I have used the provided logo and changed the brightness of the red tones in Maya so that it stands out more, making it look more florescent. My idea was to make it look like a florescence sign. I have used actual filmed footage filmed with the uni canon 750d of the Atriums lift. I thought I would place the logo inside the lift when the doors open. I have left the original audio to keep it more natural. I imported the 3D logo into AE and key framed it to appear at the right moment.

FFRESH

I am now going to create my Ffresh bumper stings. I will use a mix of filmed footage of the university interacting with the logo. I have previously filmed the footage and images when researching the ident task 2, using the uni canon 750.

This is my final audio test. The audio fits perfect with the sequence. It is the right speed for the movement and suits the upbeat colourful idea. I really like this ident as it is simple but effective in showing the channel. It is identifiable to the channels aimed area, with the use of the logos colours and city landscape.

Web Banner

The first example shows the idea of using colour for my banner. I feel as the channel uses certain colours this is the way to go, as it will be recognisable to the channels brand.

The second image is my sketch of the web banner i want to design. I will use the channels logo colours, because it will connect the channels ident to the banner giving it a uniform look. It will also represent the company Made Television, as they use the same colours for each of their local channels. I will add a Cardiff image in the background to make the web banner unique to just Cardiff. They could change this for other Made Television web banners making it recognisable to each of the locations.

The final picture is a image of the Web banner i have created. I am really pleased with how its turned out. It is colourful like the channel and connects to the ident. The image of Cardiff Castle makes it unique to the Made In Cardiff brand, and the colours to the company Made Television. all images used are my own photographs taken with the uni camera.
