   “It is at first.” Corvus smiled as he leaned back in his seat, “Then it’s entertaining watching people look at you in awe when you do it in front of them. Sometimes it can get scary though when you think if you go too far you may just break a bone but.. for at least, I’m usually fine.” He grinned, “So once you learn how to do something.. does it always stay with you?” 

Timsy laughed. “Well thanks,” she said, sarcastic. “But I think I’m safe at least on that end. Since I’ve never seen someone break it in such a way, I don’t think I can.” She offered a smile to her friend. “I think so. So far I haven’t lost any of the movements I’ve learned--using the term learned loosely here.”

“You’re breaking my heart into a million pieces,” A chuckle escaped his lips as she pushed his face away, causing him to pout at her again. “Do I even want to know what you’d call it? Nah, I’d always notice you.” Eugene shrugged his shoulders, “I promise I’ll never use my awful pick up lines on you again if you let me continue talking to you.”

“Does it become heart dust at that point?” Timsy teased. “Because I could think of a few good things I could do with heart dust.” She laughed. “To bad. I would call it...being a good egg. How about that? Not so bad, hmm?” She paused and wrinkled her nose. “It’s the hair, right? Can’t really hide with red hair.” She quickly stuck her hand out. “Deal. You can’t use them on me, but...I guess sometimes you can tell me them. So that I can laugh at you, of course.”

Anthony stared the other in front of him, still watching her every move. He could tell she was holding back - she was being strong. He gave her a smirky smile, squinting his eyes just slightly at her. He continued to stare as he began to speak, “You need to speak out. You’re not gonna get very far in anything.. in life really, if you talk like that.” His smirk faded as he stared again. “So knock that shit off.”

Timsy shifted on her feet, she looked away and then looked back again. “Then I guess we should all be so lucky that it’s really none of your business whether I get anywhere in anything--in life--or not, hm?” She crossed her arms over her chest. “But, you know, I’ll take into consideration these things I ‘need’ and promptly ignore them.” She felt like she could hear her voice shaking, but maybe, just maybe it wasn’t? She hoped.

aiden-alexander‌:

Aiden nodded quietly.  “Sometimes, it feels like I get to know the real you.”  He thought that Timsy was cute and not just in a physical sense.  There was something about her that drew him to her.  Almost like they were kindred souls or something like that.  “You think a lot, and you think fast, but it… it’s not loud, you know?”

When she asked about his romantic relationships, Aiden looked away and worried his lower lip for a few moments.  “I’ve uh- I’ve never had one.  So I wouldn’t know.”  A girl asked him out once.  When he said yes to the date, she laughed in his face and told him she asked him on a dare and wasn’t remotely interested.  It hurt a lot.

Timsy nodded. She supposed it could be quite nice in some cases. You could know someone really, really well. You could know exactly what your friend needed or wanted with hardly any effort. Then again...who didn’t have a mean thought about everyone they encountered at least once? When having a bad day...or a low moment...the thoughts that you shake off and don’t really believe. But for Aiden...would that ruin every friendship he’d have? To know all the bad thoughts you don’t dare say? “I guess I prefer fasting thinking to loud thinking. At least there’s probably some good substance in the former, right?” 

“Oh!” She sat up quick. “I’m sorry, Aiden. I didn’t mean to assume.” People were always hurried, weren’t they? To get to the end destination as soon as they could. A spouse. Two to three kids. The perfect house. Maybe a pet. Little saving tucked away--already rushing to the end. What you’re supposed to. She, herself, felt like molasses towards that supposed end. Maybe Aiden felt even slower.

Anthony stared at her with slightly squinted eyes, eyeing all her movements slowly. He cocked his head just slightly, continuing to stare at her. He let out a small laugh. “Well.. okay then. Would it ever kill you to.. oh, I dunno.. just talk like a normal human? It’s not that fucking hard.” He began to look away and looked back at her. “Oh wait, sorry… forking.” He gave her a smirk and look away. What a fucking weirdo, he thought to himself. This could be interesting.

Timsy scrunched her lips and bit down on her tongue. She could just feel a snap back coming. As shy and insecure and quiet as she was...she still had some bite to her--especially with people like this. She crossed her arms. “You know, I can’t rightly say it wouldn’t kill me. Haven’t tested it before. Seems too high a risk to, though.” It seemed irrelevant to mention she’d worked at a daycare over the summer. Timsy clasped her hands together in her lap until the knuckled turned right. She didn’t want him to know that she was shaking from how hard it was for her to speak up like this.

heartfelt-cody‌:

Cody looked down at the girl with a gentle smile, shifting a bit as she spoke.  “I wouldn’t run into you.”  He could tell that the girl was awkward; possibly awkward beyond the point of where he was a few years prior.  He always struggled with social interaction.  He was only just beginning to initiate conversation.  “But I did almost run into you.” Chuckle.  “Almost.”

Timsy grabbed a thin strand of  her red hair and started running her finger nails against it--over and over again until not a strand was left un-straighten and out of place. A nervous tic. “It’d be okay if you did,” she said. “It wouldn’t be the first or last time, after all.” She’d been in the habit of apologizing even when someone ran into her--someone had to apologize, her mouth seemed to think, even if it was the person who shouldn’t be. “I guess almost is always the preferred route, though.”

aiden-alexander‌:

Aiden smiled at Timsy.  He was so used to being judged for the patch on the back of his neck.  He was never popular, he was always the outcast.  That didn’t change when he wound up at LNA.  He was such an awkward mess.  With a laugh, he poked her arm.  “I like being around you… you’re the only person I don’t mind… hearing… if that makes sense.  Other people think too loudly.”

Timsy looked up to her friend, her eyebrows high. “You mean hearing me...here?” She tapped at her temple. With how quiet she was vocally--how withdrawn and suppressed--her mind tended to race with all the things she left unsaid. She over-thought everything. She would have expected herself to be a loud think. Then again, there’s a difference, she supposed between loud and introverted. “Does it...I--I don’t want to be rude...but does it affect your...relationships? The romantic ones?” It seemed like something that could be really great one moment--then really bad the next.

heartfelt-cody‌:

Cody’s heart raced as he ran.  He ran and ran and ran.  Granted, he was running for the mere fact that he could run, but he was still running.  He often spent his free time running laps around the campus.  He spent so many years cooped up in isolation that he made it a point to run every day (even if it was on a treadmill inside because of the weather).  

He was finally (after nearly a year and a half of freedom) back to the physical shape he wanted to be in.  It was a slow race, but he made it.  That being said, after mile five, he was usually winded.  Granted, at this point he was fairly far away from his room.  

Leaning against a tree, he let out a groan as he caught his breath.  That when he noticed someone nearby.  He offered them a smile.  “I don’t bite.  Promise.”

Timsy had her head down. She was watching where she was going--sort of anyway. At the very least, she seemed to be watching more than the person she was on a collision course for. She kept walking, even as she noticed him, in the hopes that in the next second he’ll see her and be the one to halt...and then it was the next second...and the next second...and the next...it was a low energy day and it felt like the second she stopped moving would be the second she stopped moving. Finally, she resigned herself to her fate and halted. Only for him to stop another second later. Timsy wasn’t good with strangers. “Right. I was more worried about getting run over, really.” She smiled, just slightly, to make it seem like socializing was totally natural for her.

inez-castillo‌:

   Inez wasn’t expecting to be questioned. She shrugged, “I’m not used to being away from my house.” She hadn’t known much else besides that golden cell. She knew it had affected her emotional intelligence but it wasn’t something she could just fix from one day to the next. At least she was aware of it. Inez rubbed the back of her neck, “It’s just a matter of time, I suppose.” 

“Ah,” Timsy said. “Homesick, then?” It was something she could understand, even if it wasn’t something she really experienced herself. She’d cried the first night she was left alone at the Academia, but she had recovered by the next day. It wasn’t that she didn’t like her family. She did. But in this, as in many things, she was rather numb. “Gotta leave the nest sometime, right?” She smiled, soft.

“Look at this face, Timsy, could you really ignore this face forever?” Eugene pouted slightly, pulling the best puppy dog face he could muster. “Well you know me, I’m a rebel, and besides, maybe I don’t want to be friends with them. Some of them are so rude, but I’m sure I’ll wear them down eventually. I’ll befriend the entire school.” Grinning at her, he shook his head, “Tims, you should know, you’re never getting out. I’m annoyingly persistent. You’re stuck with me. Forever.”

“Absolutely,” Timsy said without missing a single beat. She put a hand against the side of his face and pushed him away. “Rebel isn’t the word I would use, but I’m not stopping you from using it.” She leaned back and crossed her arms over her chest. He hooked her feet at the ankles and started to people-watch. “I suppose if any one can do it, it’s you. Then you won’t even notice that you’re not allowed to talk to me any more.” She forced a smile. Just was being annoying, she could just feel it. But for long as she could remember, she’d only kept a friend for as long as a year. “Oh, well, fine. I guess that’s okay.” Her smile turned genuine.

aiden-alexander‌:

Aiden knew exactly how to make Timsy feel better.  Sure, reading minds helped, but he found that in this case, it was a positive.  He knew how to better interact with the girl before him and make her feel better.  When she mentioned him reading minds, he chuckled, smiling at her.  “You know that it’s not all it’s cracked up to be,” he chuckled.  “But it does help.”

Timsy smiled wider. A lot of people at Lusus Naturae would probably avoid Aiden--for the simple fact that he was in the control division. Those students were judged just as hard--perhaps even harder--than those in the rehab division. At least students in the rehab division knew what they were doing...at least that’s how other people seemed to think. Timsy was more...judge someone by the individual and not the whole. “I can’t imagine it is,” she said, smiling but it was more a smile of sympathy. “You’d be hard pressed to find some quiet, I bet.”

At her laugh, Eugene couldn’t help but chuckle himself, throwing his head back with laughter. “What? Who else am I supposed to be friends with?” Eugene pouted, “Besides, I know plenty more where that came from. And they get so much worse.”

Timsy clicked her tongue. “What did I just say?” She fought back a smile. “I mean honestly, it took you all of two seconds to break the whole no-talking-to-me-again deal.” She pulled one knee up to her chest and hugged it to her chest. “Oh, there’s plenty of people to be friends with.” She pointed at random to one of their fellow students. “Them,” she said and the pointed again. “And them and them.” She nodded, now unable to hold back the smile. “Then it’s a good thing I’m getting out now, while I can, huh?”

   She really wasn’t kidding when she said that she could easily copy someone. Corvus always found his double jointed abilities were the most unique thing about him until he discovered his powers. This was the first time he had met someone else who could easily copy his tricks. “Wow, that is impressive.. and that’s the first time you’ve done that?”

Timsy stared at the bend in her arms--half horrified and half fascinated (a combo that was found together often). “Nope. Never.” She moved them back into place and then bent them again. “It’s actually pretty freaky,” she admitted, “seeing your body bend in a way that was previously possible.” She grabbed at the bottom of her shirt and gave a little shiver. “Freaky.”

Anthony stared at the girl in front of him, cocking his head slightly at her remarks. He squinted his eyes slightly, holding all of his books in his hands. He shook his head slightly. He began to speak slowly, “Holy… monster… forking shirt… balls? Is that really what you just said?” He stared at her, waiting for a reply. “I, uh… I don’t think I’ve ever heard anyone say that. Ever.”

Timsy’s eyes adjusted. She’d been got by the role reversal. Hand still protectively covering her heart, she took a few minutes to calm down the rapid beating before she could answer the figure. “I mean...I could say no, but it’d be a lie,” she said, as it was the only words that currently came to her mind. The question in particular was the kind that felt like a trap. A no was a lie and a yes would probably get her made fun of. Anthony, the boy in front of her, was in the same division as she was and while she didn’t know him particularly well he gave of those vibes. She could just tell he was the kind to make fun of her cursing-adjacent exclamation.

aiden-alexander‌:

Aiden smiled as he made an even more complex motion with his body.  He was rather font of Timsy.  She was sweet and he could tell that she was a genuine person too.  She wanted friends, just like he did.  Their mutual need for friendship and companionship made them excellent friends.

“You’re fricking awesome!”

Timsy smiled. As much as her powers gave her a complex about herself and what she could really do, she craved approval so potently that using them and getting these types of reactions virtually washed that complex deep beneath the surface. She tucked the edge of her long sleeve between her fingers and palm and held it their tightly--a nervous habit. “Oh, it’s nothing. It’s not like I can read minds or anything,” she teased.

Timsy watched the other person. Not very closely, though she tried to make it seem like she was. The truth was, it only took a passing glance for her body to understand what it was seeing. Still, it seemed polite to pay close attention. “Okay...” she said and then let her abilities take over, perfectly replicating the movement that they had only just shown her. “Like that?”

“Hey, did you know that if you were a chicken, you’d be impeccable.” Eugene grinned, shooting finger guns at the other. “What do you think? Good pick up line? Bad? Maybe I should try something different. Like… You must be a campfire. Because you’re super hot and I want s’more.”

Timsy blinked, wide-eyed, at her friend. She made a noise akin to a long, drawn out ahhhee, but as concerned and judgmental as the noise sounded, it was really the only thing stopping her from busting up at possibly the stupidest thing she’d ever heard. It didn’t work for very long. Timsy laughed until her cheeks starter to hurt. “You’re never allowed to speak to me again,” she said, still between bouts of laughter.
