Kara, blushing and fidgeting with her glasses, offers to put sunscreen on Lena’s back and Alex rolls her eyes so hard Querl has to ask if she’s okay
Alex’s old scars are very noticeable, but she doesn’t care about the strangers who stare. Sam glares at anyone who does and gives Alex a kiss on the cheek
Nia, on the other hand, feels shy about the lifeguards and concession stand workers stuttering and tripping over themselves when they see her and try to talk to her
Kara, Alex, Querl, and James challenge a bunch of buff beach bros to a game of volleyball
Sam and Lena sit in the shade and lower their expensive sunglasses occasionally to stare appreciatively at the excellent….. sportsmanship being displayed before them
Winn keeps score and puts on a fake serious commentator voice. Nia and Ruby cheer them on the whole time.
Team Supergirl of course wins by a landslide and they jump in the water to cool off. Winn and Nia run to join them. Lena stays to look after all their stuff when Ruby drags her mom to the water too.
Kara floats on top of the water and basks in the light of the yellow sun. She closes her eyes and thanks Rao for the love and warmth surrounding her, within her.
When they all return to the sand, they see that Lena has already started building an impressive sandcastle.
James and Nia bury Winn in the sand and Querl joins Lena with expanding the castle. Kara, Alex, Sam, and Ruby sit on the towels while they eat snacks and take pictures of their friends.
They head home right when the sun starts to set. As Alex drives and Lena sleeps on Kara’s shoulder in the backseat, Kara creates a folder on her phone of all the beach photos she wants to print out. She locks eyes with Alex in the rearview mirror and smiles.
