Survival of the Fastest
Caroline Chou http://www.jessicaann.info/caroline For this project, I used Processing to draw images based on the data received from the Javascript on the page itself. On the home page, the button in the center links you to the page with the actual Processing sketch. The second page consists of the Processing sketch as well as buttons in the top left and right corners to bring you back to the home page (left) and to refresh the page and redetermine the values (left). You can also find your continent code and IP address at the upper left too. The page first loads itself, determining the IP address and the continent code from the IP address. It then assigns the corresponding fish image in either blue, red, or yellow (one type of fish for each continent) and assigns a random fish to the opponent. Next, the page determines how long it took for all of this to load and assigns this as the speed of your fish. The opponent is assigned a random value from with in a range depending on your speed. The sketch then compares the two speeds and draws the fish in proportion to each other and the sketch window ( the faster fish being larger). If you click within the sketch window, a corresponding gif will play. There is a gif for your âwinâ or your âloss.â The sketch determines what color the fish were as well as which fish was bigger and displays the corresponding gif.
