So this incredible post made me think of a similar situation regarding brushbug being fond of not only silverwood tree ink but also silverwood tree host blood.

You know how cats tend to lie down where it hurts and people think it's cute and that they're trying to soothe the pain or heal the person somehow but they actually do this because the wounded or infected place is warmer than the rest of the body? Well what if there was a situation maybe shortly after the second trial arc where Qifrey is already feeling better but his wound on the back is still not quite healed. And the brushbug is always near him. If not on his back then somewhere close like on the shoulder. And everyone is like "awwwww he's cheering you up he's keeping you company!" while all brushbug is thinking about is OHHHH TASTY INK.

He waits for a treat. Olly helps Qifrey with changing bandages and the moment they look away brushbug YANKS the used ones and skitters away. He builds a nest out of them where others can't see. No one has a clue why but Qifrey looks slightly unsettled.
