This Blog Is Mostly Exiles And I'm Not Even Sorry

This blog exists so that those of my followers on my main blog who don't want anything to do with Homestuck (or the other MS Paint Adventures for that matter) don't have to see anything having to do with it if at all possible. I love the carapacians more than anything, so this blog consists mostly of them and I'm not even sorry about that. I have a fansession that I want to develop at some point; the only characters I've come up with them so far are a Rogue of Light olive blood troll and an overly tall tabloid delivery Dersite. I don't draw either of them nearly enough though. Speaking of drawing, the overly convoluted art tag I use on all my blogs that aren't my actual art blog is in effect here. The twist is that it's all Homestuck/MSPA-themed stuff, from doodles to sketches to fan album track art to finished pieces that for some reason or another I just don't want to bother posting to my art blog. A tale about a boy and his friends and a game they play together. 

After starting this piece two and a half years ago, taking a two year pause, ultimately deciding to scrap the original, and redrawing everything from scratch, I finally finish this giant piece of almost all the characters in Homestuck, give or take a couple very minor ones or ones that have appeared in recent updates.

Back to Life suite: First Steps/Back to Life/A World Awake

This is the audio of the full suite of which Back to Life - the song in the video - makes up the middle section.

A little commentary:

The basic idea for the piece started after Colours and Mayhem was released (Was that really over 3 years ago!?) and it’s essentially an attempt to rework the Cyan Beast theme into a song intended for Jane Crocker (Cyan Beast was written for John originally).

Back to Life

So this is a Homestuck related song I’ve been working on for quite some time, it’s only recently that I’ve done the final part and edited all of the footage from the recording sessions together.

Back to Life is based around a reworking of the ‘Cyan Beast’ theme for Jane set during the exploration of LoCaH during myststuck. Somewhere in my tumblr archive there’s a short video with an early draft of the chorus idea. I think I wrote about 4 different verses for the song before landing on one I was happy with.

This piece features two of my friends on Vocals and Trumpet. A big thanks to Clouds for their wonderful vocal performance and to Adam for not complaining about the key too much.

There are actually 2 other pieces of music that go with this to make a small suite, a short piano introduction and a more orchestral piece based once more around the Cyan Beast theme. I should be posting the full suite on soundcloud soon.

The piano solo towards the end is quite tricky (and is also another nod towards Cyan Beast). Full lyrics are included in the Youtube description. I hope you enjoy the song.
