Trees, like animals, can also experience albinism, though it is extremely rare.
Even cooler: albinism is lethal to plants because without their green-pigmented chlorophyll, plants die. Sprouts can survive for a short time feeding off their seed’s food supply, but even so, they usually die after a short time. But, in some rare cases like with this tree, the plant actually becomes parasitic, attaching to a neighboring tree’s roots to steal its nutrients.
