āAny minute now. Yes, of course, any minute nowā¦ā
Despite the fact of a self-imposed goal of city-wide protection, Doctor Octavius only found himself overcome with an unbearable feeling of impatience. Eyeing the massive array of computer monitors in front of him, he could only muster up the will to monitor his cityās actions, rather than actually act within it.
It was strange, to say the least. The man who endlessly spewed self-aggrandizing drivel about his dedication to his ācauseā put everything on hold. For a simple package. He had convinced himself that this was āno ordinary packageā, but something else entirely. Something glorious within the hands of a simple minded peddler on the black market.
Of course, he had no way of truly knowing this, but his considerable ego convinced him of his decision. Soon enough, the doctor caught sight of tiny being arriving at his fortressā entrance, a feeling of true excitement welling up in his rotting body.
Letting a thought guide his metal tentacle, Octavius inputted a small command into his bank of consoles. Instantly, one of his benched proxies sprang to life, beginning a monotonous march toward hisĀ āguestā.
Ā Ā The small bot had been teleported down in an instant, a small feeling of relief overcoming their systems as a quick scan indicated that this planet was in fact not mostly populated with primarily hostile creatures like they were told. Also even more relief as they did a small perimeter check to make sure the teleport worked properly, no missing parts, nothing half burnt or leaking weird burning fluids, and certainly no mutated feline creatures, so everything worked out fine!
Ā It could only wonder what awaited them with their instructions on where to go, they were well aware of how most trades worked when it came to being traded around like some rare novelty or simply another junky work-bot
Ā There was something approaching, it wasnāt far but it definitely wasnāt organic, theyād have to get closer to properly scan the mechanics and what it was, but judging by the way it was moving it was coming to pick them up.
Ā For once, they felt actually hopeful about something like this! There was a very high possibility that whoever hadĀ āorderedā them could be another AI or android of some sort-- hopefully in need of some real work rather than fixing excretion tubes all day!
Ā Though they decided it would be best to keep hopes like that to a low simmer considering their luck in these situations. So theyād just follow the instructions they were given.Ā āWait for escortā.
Ā And it seems, the wait was over, as a mechanical person clad in red and black approached, the bots features lighting up and straightening professionally as they were put in the line of sight.
Ā For the sake of being polite, they wouldnāt barge in and scan them out of the blue, at least not without their permission.

"Em, according to the time-viewer your parts will be used in the creation of an army of ultra-violent genobots! Unless we prevent that from happening, the Space Federation will mark you for the scrap heap!"
"Wh-WHAT?!" The bot squeaked out, their tone already on the edge of static.
Wait, Space Federation? Never heard that one before.
"W-wait, can I see the certificate or license of this mark? I-Iām positive s-something like me couldnāt be used for violence.." They spoke with a bit less surprise, the tone slowly coming back down to its normal state.
Ā "Now."Ā
After the notes were left behind, Jack and Em hurried to the ship Jack had borrowed, āThe Onyx Interceptor.ā It was a sizable starship that was between being a fighter and a small cargo hauling vehicle.Ā
"Letās try to get this space-bird back in one piece, a friend of mine loaned it."Ā
"Iāve got a theory that the very people who brought this supposed ātime-viewerā technology in staged the entire thing. Once the Federation was in an uproar and they dismantled you, those jackals would swoop in and steal your parts!"Ā
"You don't have to worry about keeping it in tact - if something happens I can fix it easily!" That was one thing the bot liked to brag about just a little.
"But um.. Jack I .."
"I can't help but get the feeling that- maybe I should not tell people what I am, quite literally made of as a sort of defense when they threaten to dismantle my being." Their four curious eyes blinked a few times, trying to remember the last time something like that happened. "I have a feeling that would jeopardize our situation greatly. So If it does manage to happen, I will do my best to um, 'Hold my tongue'."

Ā "Right. My name is Jack Shuster, Iām an adventurer from the planet Earth. Some of our Space Heroes had heard about the Federation being shown a glimpse into the future and wanted to help, but were occupied. So I offered to travel up and lend a hand."
"Speaking of the Time-Viewer, that may be our first clue⦠Iāve tracked down the people who brought it in. Their ship should be leaving shortly!"
"Nice to meet you Jack! One moment, I need to write up the note for the other workers." Ā The bot presses a single finger to theĀ holo-warrant, wiping the text from the small screen and quickly changing it to a little 'good bye this needs fixed' note.
They had managed to calm down much more after realizing they should just try to treat this as a job, like a simple order to carry out. That helped a little.
"When are we leaving? I don't think I would like to be around to confront people about my sudden leave."
