incredible things are happening in china, vis-a-vis crazy techno bangers
having a sensible chuckle thinking about tara knight prompting the ai on her computer "please write an essay complaining about my ex, who was always posting on the computer too much to do the dishes" and then posting it. on the computer
hold on i just gotta smear this goop on me
okay so the fact of the matter is - im this guy
handful of problems with that "there are no psychopaths" essay people are posting. obviously it's worth problematising an idea like "psychopathy", and the n≈5000 systematic review co-authored by the author Rasmus Rosenberg Larsen is an interesting step in that direction, but the essay's argument would be strengthened if it would mention things like "another n≈15000 systematic review found there apparently is actually a correlation with 'psychopathy-measuring' metrics and lower empathy metrics" (the study itself admits "empirical findings on the relationship between empathy and psychopathy are more heterogeneous than one might expect" so it could be easily integrated!) or perhaps if it would mention the concept of "recidivism" even once, considering that one of the strongest arguments for the usage of the PCL-R as a statistical tool (within current carceral frameworks, mutatis mutandis) is that it consistently predicts violent recidivism across a variety of populations. also i found it kind of disingenuous how the article brings up the replication crisis in psychology when it wants to discredit articles that would appear to show some sort of pro-"psychopathy is real" empirical findings, but then wants the reader to ignore the replication crisis when it comes to, say, RR Larsen's own work (although, to go for a cheap shot, maybe it's easier to smugly opine about the trouble with testable predictions when most of your original research has titles like "More phenomenology in psychiatry? Applied ontology as a method towards integration"). oh, what's that, the author has a book out? fascinating
i thought the worst thing on the planet was people decontextualising the laura palmer screaming in the car FWWM gif but i just saw someone post the laura palmer screaming in the car FWWM gif but with digital bleedthrough from the other shot of leland palmer in the car also screaming and you know what,
wait holy shit the new xiu xiu covers album has a rowland s howard track lmao
lets fucking GO

Project Hail Mary the movie is a pretty good sci fi adventure that basically holds together despite having too many quips in it, until it hits a particular point and becomes a horrible schmaltzfest that i felt actively insulted by. from what i understand this is an astonishing improvement from the book, which contains such a strong redditor/adult-pokémon-enthusiast energy that every sample of its writing i've seen has pushed me a solid percentage up on the SIDAS
i will say, having a character be an ultra-utilitarian to such a degree that she gives the movie its one note of genuinely moving interpersonal darkness, and having her have fond memories of the DDR, and unambiguously including her in the all-loving schmaltzfest at the end? not a combination of moves i expected from phil "castro has shamefully disrespected the memory of my plantation-owning great grandfather" lord

On the automated bureaucratic machinery that killed 175 children
precise writing about "AI" as a bureaucratic problem as well as some military history of precision bombing
when i hear the word "culture" i release the spring catch on my serpa holster, launching my glock into my hand with trigger finger already squeezing, negligently discharging myself in the femoral artery and massively hemorrhaging
maybe the most evil example of lavender liberalism was when i met with an artist and she told me was working with some local lgbtqia+ orgs because the pride displays every year were getting vandalized , their solution was making an artwork with a high enough material cost that vandalizing it would hit the offender with a felony charge
[accidentally clicks like on a post too quickly after its reblog, thus appearing to be a ghoul or perhaps a freakazoid] fuck!!!!!!
