Izuku can love without being in love. Izuku is very good at loving without being in love. It’s being in love he struggles with, because it requires him to hold space for himself and his own long-neglected feelings. Feelings he had to learn how to control because they were too big for him to hold unchecked. Feelings he thought would be a burden to everyone else around him. Feelings he only ever lost control of when one other person was threatened or hurt.

So to say the only reason he would run to Ochako, or try to comfort her, or call her his hero when she’s clearly drowning in a grief and guilt he understands better than anyone, is because he is in love with her romantically is doing a huge disservice to his character, and to hers!!!

Izuku can want to reconnect with her and want to build their friendship back up after years of quiet distance, without being in love with her. He can show genuine care and affection for her, genuine love, without being in love with her.

There is nothing in canon or post-canon that says he loves her romantically. There is nothing in canon or post-canon that sinks bkdk. Izuku loves Ochako. But I do not see a single thing proving he loves her romantically

It was an open ending, romantically. A choose your own ending, even. Ship your ship. Let me ship mine.
