The story behind this photo...I received an invitation to listen to a teen-ager speak for the first time. Knowing the work that I do in the community, I felt I should support the future Black Femme leaders. The event was in a church, but not only that, at said church was a funeral. Despite my objections due to several heartfelt losses, I made my way to the meeting room in the basement. What I absolutely was not prepared for was a discussion led by a black CISHET male in defense of Trump's comments regarding women and grabbing their pussy! The man said before rushing to judgment about Trump, one should look internally because everyone does it. I sat in horror listening to him and, to have black CISHET women agreeing that this is the way it is was absolutely sickening. One woman said that women who wear either tight, short or see through clothing is advertising and asking for it. At that point, I had had enough and spoke up. It is not advertising. You're perpetuating rape culture and leading the young girl I came to hear actually think whatever a man or boy does to her would somehow be her fault because she didn't present as a lady. Having survived rape and sexual assault, I knew this was my cue to exit. The man who was speaking as I entered continued to look at me as he described locker room banter between men about women. I spoke up. They tried to shut me down and then said that they were only stating their opinions. Because my opinion was different, they didn't want to hear it.
