Although our sorrow is yet to become gentler, this service reminds us of the intensity of all loss. Because when someone passes, it reminds all of us of each and every of our losses. The sorrow will remain, yes, but so will the memories and joy of the memory of our passed loved ones. They are woven within each of us, tying us together in a great, big web of love.  Evan was given the name Ebenezer at his brit milah. It means Stone of Help, the commemorative stone erected when the Ark was recovered after it was stolen from the city of Shiloh, where Hannah prayed for a miracle child. Now, isn’t that something… Evan and Louis’ son is called Shiloh, if you didn’t know. Anyway! Now, it’s tempting to on the surface look at the story in Samuel and believe the stone was meant to remind the people that God would always be on their side, yadda yadda. But what actually happened was the Israelites had been so prideful and arrogant in assuming that God would just automatically help them win, that they took the ark from its resting place in Shiloh and brought it to the battle area. This also highlights the blasphemous idea that God was in the ark, or that God could be transported, could be confined by an earthly bound. God cannot be bound. So, he let the Israelites lose the battle and allowed the ark to be seized by the Philistines, who brought it to the temple of their god. Elohim, our God, then plagued the Philistines. It was seven months until the ark was returned. And that is when the stone was erected, and named, with the reminder that ‘hitherto, God has helped us.” It wasn’t just a stone in the ground. The Eben-Ezar was a physical reminder to tether our hope for the future to the faith of our past.

In the mean time, I’ve written 706k+ words across over a dozen fics. My writing has improved a lot since then, but I sorta like how this fic might show that!
