I hope this isn't rude or anything but what's the proper pronunciation of Metztli? Also! Any lore behind her name?

It's not rude at all! No worries :) You would pronounce Metztli is "mets-tlee"

As for lore behind her name, I chose it because it means 'moon' in Nahua. Before she was adopted, her name was Inez. Xihuitl asked her if she liked her name, or she'd like to change it. She decided to change it and spent a lot of time contemplating alongside Xihuitl. Eventually, they settled on Metztli after a recommendation from her grandparents. It was Metztli or Xitlali, and she liked Metztli more.

Like I've mentioned, she doesn't use the name Metztli in Golden Grove until Step 3. She tries explaining the pronunciation to her classmates, but they don't seem to try. Nene became her name because they found it easier to pronounce (they still say it wrong, sometimes), and they thought it was more cutesy. By the way, in case anyone is curious, you pronounce Nene as "neh-neh". Some of her classmates say "nay-nay" or "nee-nee", which make her eye twitch, but she's more forgiving in the first two steps.

In Step 3, she would definitely be more strict about her name. She will sit with you until you say it right. She's patient the first few times, but if you continously say her name wrong (either one), she will hold a grudge.

Congrats to Agustín for making me delay this until right now. I had to re-do his pose like five times... BUT he came out okay :D

A few little tidbits about Step 3: the Solano siblings have both thought about moving back to Mexico. They've both spent some time between Step 2 and 3 in Mexico after a little incident that I'll talk about soon. I hope it's obvious that these two are not the biggest fans of Golden Grove. They were both hopeful when they first arrived but now, not so much, especially after everything they've been through in Step 2. More details to come :)

And here's the other Solano! If you're already familiar with Nene, be ready for quite a few differences. First off, her name! Yup, Selena "Nene" Solano is no more. Her first name was changed since I wanted to pick something that fit her better and would be harder to pronounce if you didn't try. It's to make her excuse of using "Nene" as her name make more sense.

As for other differences... I'm not going to give much away since I want to explore her personality and her relationship with other characters in a different post :)

BUT I can tell you that Nene (and Agustín) are both non-English speakers. It's more obvious in this version compared to Nene's original iteration. As you can imagine, it comes with the same consequences as before.
