Madagascar Party 2025 Theme 1: Penguins
This year, I decided to make dishes inspired by the Penguins of Madagascar (2014) film.
Please enjoy these recipes I made based on the events of the movie! :)
This is the Antarctic Waters drink, based on the beginning of the movie when the Penguins begin in Antarctica.
Recipe:
Lemon lime soda
Blue raspberry syrup
1 oz of vodka (omit for non-alcoholic version)
Whipped cream (or cold foam) topping
Garnish rim with marshmallow fluff, if desired
Next up, we couldn't have Penguins-themed food without an elevated version of Cheezy Dibbles!
Recipe:
Mozzarella cheese (sticks or a block if you chop your own)
2 eggs, beaten
Flour
Crushed up nacho cheese flavored chips
Vegetable oil
They basically turn out to be mozzarella sticks coated in cheese-flavored chip crumbs rather than breadcrumbs. ;)
Then, there's the Melon Cart Smash Salad based off the Venice chase scene.
Recipe:
1 small, chopped watermelon
1 cucumber
Feta to taste
1/2 red onion
Mint leaves to taste
I forgot to take a photo of the finished product so here is a picture from Lucy Schaffer at The Kitchn website
Skipping ahead to the plane scene, I made Plane Pretzels (aka soft pretzel bites).
Recipe:
1 1/4 cup warm water
1 packet of yeast
1 tsp of white sugar
5 cups of flour
1 1/2 tsp of salt
1 tbsp vegetable oil
1/2 cup of baking soda
4 cups of boiling water
Salt (or cinnamon and sugar mixture) to taste for topping
Any online recipe for pretzels should help you make pretzel bites with these ingredients. ;)
These were great to dip in nacho cheese!
For the Shanghai scene, there are plenty of traditional Shanghai or Chinese recipes in general.
One of these recipes is a popular street food in Shanghai called Xiao Long Bao or Soup Dumplings!
This picture is from Wei Guo at Red House Spice. I highly recommend this recipe! :)
The next recipe was rather easy.
Dave's Sweet Remains is pineapple :D
Then, we have the Medusa Serum but much more appetizing than what is pictured in the movie... and with much less mutant-creating side effects. ;)
Recipe (Non-Alcoholic):
Hawaiian Punch Green Berry Rush
Edible glitter (optional)
Lemon lime soda
Recipe:
1 oz Midori
1 oz tequila
1/2 oz lime juice
4 oz of soda water (or seltzer water)
Edible glitter (optional)
Last, but certainly not least, we have "the most meaningful and valued" part of this meal: Secret Weapon Ice Cream
Recipe:
2 scoops of strawberry ice cream
2 blue M&Ms
1 orange M&M (I used the Peanut M&Ms for the beak)
1 pretzel cut in half
So let me know what you think! Any recipes you're interesting in trying? Anything you would add or change? Would love to hear it in the comments!
Happy Madagascar Party 2025 and happy holidays! :)
