actually looking through the information we have about the people of araman and the sundered houses and i’ve realized that there are like no orcs represented in any of these positions of great power that control the world’s political machinations
and it makes the halovar’s control over and manipulations of hal’s theater even more despicably evil because that is the site of the rungjani’s suffering. it’s the site where their people were forced into worship and where they are trying to reclaim their history and a bunch of human houses blessed by the gods (who are dead and gone and who cares about them anyway), are throwing their weight around with it. the council, or the chamber of the lords advisory decided whether or not hal got this site. the halovar are deciding what history gets told there. not a single orc is involved in that decision making. and when thaisha calls this out, that it’s her people’s history and truth that yanessa’s reshaping, she’s completely dismissed, despite the fact that she is right and also her family name should give her a level of status that the halovar should respect, if not consider an equal (not that she should need that status to be listened to).
it’s despicably evil. and as brennan says “YOU CAN’T PROVE THERE’S ALLEGORY HERE”
merry pride month. go my blast.
Truly, the level of reclamation and the build-up of Hal’s play is giving me chills.
The Pariah blades are no longer hidden away in a museum. They’ve been soaked in the freed blood and spirit of the people who forged and wielded them.
They are in the hands of Rungjani, clanging in the streets of Dol-Makjar, calling the people to witness a story.
The Hallowed Round is also covered in the liberated blood of Rungjani. Blood held captive for centuries now shapes the forms and faces of Rungjani, captives who strove and died, but did not fail, because their rebellion was a step forward on the path toward freedom.
The play is going forward, with no influence from the Creed. Everyone in the city will see it in its true form— a story of rebellion.
It makes me think of the Falconer’s Rebellion, another failed rebellion. Two rebellions that failed with the fall of a single great man.
But there were nine blades used in the Rebellion that succeeded. Decades later, the Lloy name is held in highest honor as the creators of the Blades, not the wielders.
It makes me think of Uli saying, “I know now that those who sang songs in this place, even if the words were meant to soothe [Azgra’s] wrath and keep our lives in propitiating his fury; the melody, the dance, the fury and the passion, that was always for us.”
It makes me think of Demodus, saying that things have to start as an illusion first.
It makes me think of Thaisha, speaking a Rungjani blessing, blessing the Conqueror, “for in his appetite, he saw Aramán forever changed from what it was to what it might be. A blessing to him, then, that the Rungjani reject peace in favor of a dream.”
Why do we tell stories?
I think I know. And I’m very excited for opening night.
seeing that alexander ward community popping off is making me think. like yeah. yeah i actually so get it thank you so much.
people on reddit who cry about wick being a punching bag give STRONG "white people can be victims too" energy
i think this happens when people forget how ingrained and significant and implied social hierarchies are.
because at the end of the day, occtis IS right, wick can always go back to knowing peace and letting their family do whatever they want letting him have a front row seat. this plus seeing (during the soldiers arc mostly) just how badly the indoctrination of the creed is suffered by the small peoples of the world paints a clear picture that, no matter what, wiccander halovar has a particular presence that i don't blame anyone for judging immediately. the fact that he is here is not only odd but ominous and SHOULD BE FELT AS TENSE AS IT IS BEING FELT
Two sides of the same coin
