I think it’s really shitty that so many people speak out about how male victims are not represented as victim, but when a former SVU detective admitted he was molested as a child people dismiss it because “it’s just Cassidy”

I truly believe that no matter who you ultimately ship, a lot of fans are downplaying and downright dismissing Cassidy’s cofession just because they don’t like him or don’t ship him with Liv. He is still a victim of sexual assault. Just Imagine the fan response if it had been Barba or Carisi or Stabler who had admitted to being molested? Would you have felt the same?

I'm embarrassed to admit this, but I'm really enjoying the Tuckson shippers' meltdowns on Twitter. I completely understand the pain of your ship breaking up (I went through it with Bensidy) but since my ship wasn't a real "adult" relationship I guess it doesn't count? At least Brian was always nice to her. Nicer than she was to him. How is it NOT complicated to be in a relationship with a man who tried to have you and your partner(s) fired, falsely arrested you for murder, and set your boyfriend up to be killed? It was a weird relationship and it was too hard to justify it/have it make sense, so they ended it.

I know this sounded fucked up but I want him to end it. For one I'm not a Tuckson shipper. But also I'm a person craving angst so I want Benson to struggle. Fucked up I know, but she is merely a character. Like I lived for the drinking line and sexual assaults. I feel Benson is too happy. Fucking Neal Baer himself says Benson can't be happy. Like Noah's fine but a child does not cure depression. Life's not happy, svu is supposed to be real so in the real world happiness does not exist for many

Um, I’m not sure how to feel about this. Benson has been through enough shit in her life. Why make her go through more? She’s been assaulted at least twice, all her relationships have gone down the tubes, her partner (who was like family) left her, and Dodds died on her watch. I get that life’s not always rainbow and sunshine but, after a while, putting Benson through hell just to put her through hell is just gross torture/angst porn. Give the woman some happiness. She deserves it.

I get what you’re saying, that she deserves happiness and I agree that she does.  But it’s not like she can just turn off all the shit that happened to her.  She was nearly raped 3 times.  She is a new single mom.  Her best friend left her without a word.  She’s suddenly pushed to become CO of her squad.  So I can understand someone wanting to see Benson struggle.  For her to just be fine after everything that’s happened to her in the last few years is not realistic.  And I  completely agree about the drinking thing.  I don’t care if it’s been done to death in other shows /moves, whatever..., it’s realistic!  And the writers seemed to set it up and only to abandon it.  InLstead she breaks up with Cassidy and starts dating Tucker and suddenly we’re supposed to forget how he was an asshole to her and her squad for 15 years and just accept that she’s suddenly completely in love and happy?  No.

Could I get y'all’s thoughts on this? Personally, I thought Tucker handled that UC operation horribly. It was just terribly done. But I don’t think, as some do (and, no, there’s no bashing going on here), that he deliberately tried to murder Brian.

The only motive I could remotely think of is jealousy but we had had no hint of that up to that point.

Anytime a cop goes undercover to investigate other cops he/she is in danger.  That is expected.  It is part of the job.  But when your own boss (the guy who you think is on your side!) leaks info to the people you’re investigating that puts your life in even greater danger without even telling you?  That is crossing a line.  I don’t care if you ship Tuckson.  I don’t care how much Tucker has changed.  He crossed a line.  As a cop, if you can’t trust your own partner, squad, and BOSS, then who can you trust?
