We need more best friends Kaider conversations theyād have in bed or on a date. Bonus points if itās on Thorneās podcast so the public gets to see their chemistry and how they tease each other and get along so welll
Oh, you know they get into the longest, most drawn-out debates about the most trivial things ever. Some end up on the podcast or, as you said, are just conversations they hash out until 1am. In Stars Above they do that very thing where they talk until "the words turn gummy in their mouths." Imagining their conversations with each other is my drug. I'm so serious. Here are some that I've cooked up:
What kind of milk tastes best in what drink. Like Kai says almond milk tastes best in coffee, whereas Cinder thinks it's soy. Tea, smoothies, with cereal; everything gets debated. A lot of Asian people are genetically lactose intolerant, so I'm not sure if Kai can have cow's milk, unless in the future they have a pill to fix that or something. So if Cinder isn't lactose intolerant, I can see her always arguing back at him that cow's milk is the best, purely to make fun of him for being unable to drink it. "You've just got bad genes, dude." "Really? And here I thought you liked my face?" "What's the point of being pretty if you can't have dairy?"
Debating over movies all the time. Kai is a hopeless romantic and is willing to overlook ridiculous plotlines if the characters get their happy endings. Cinder is much more pragmatic and tells Kai everything that's unrealistic or stupid about a character's decision or plotline. They give a running commentary on every movie they watch together. Their friends hate them.
Before they get married, Kai decides he no longer wants to live in the wing of the palace that he has grown up in, so they decide to design a new, renovated suite for themselves. Thus, lengthy conversations about furniture, decor and house design ensue. Though they hire architects and interior designers, they do enjoy being involved in the process and picking out some things together. It makes the place feel more like a home they created. Sometimes they leave the wedding planning to Tashmi Priya so they can go to the department stores and pick out what they like. They generally agree on most things, though of course there are a few things they have to compromise on.
They argue about when they got together. In Cress, Kai refers to his and Cinder's connection as having been a "relationship, if it could even be called that." Whereas Cinder clearly told Thorne that Kai was "not [her] boyfriend!" So it seems like Kai is willing to say that their relationship began shortly after they met, whereas Cinder is probably staunch on the fact that it didn't start until they made it official. I imagine them going back and forth on this, even in front of their friends, until one of the crew (probably Thorne, or even Wolf), says "you two were making out every day on the Rampion. You were dating. Why are you arguing about this." And so, even though they didn't make it 'official' while on the Rampion, they agree that that's basically when they started dating.
After getting married, the number one question they get from people is "So when are you having kids?" It happens so often that it becomes an inside joke between them. They'll be working in silence, and Kai will randomly burst out with, "So when are we having kids?" It never fails to make them laugh and they do it when there's a lull in the conversation. Except one night, several years into marriage, Cinder asks as they're about to fall asleep, "When are we having kids?" He laughs, but she says, "No, seriously. When?"
