But she turned to her savior instead, ignoring them in favor of fussing over the stranger before her. “Are you alright?” she demanded, eyes scanning the man’s face, taking note of his already bruising cheek and the blood dribbling from the corner of his mouth.

He hadn’t noticedjust how much pain he was in until his mind was able to focus on it. His tongue felt as though it was swimming around in a growing deeper pool of blood,causing him to spit out saliva mixed with the red liquid.

Yongguk jumped in almost horror as the girl spoke to him,her voice barely registering in his mind. “Fuck.” He whispered under hisbreath, his head was struck with a high pitch ringing in his ear. Having nochoice but to swallow his blood, it began to make a thick layer in his throat while he practically bashed his head back into the wall. Resting it there,trying to register what had actually happened.

After a few silent seconds, Yongguk looked back at the girland faintly smiled towards her. “I’m fine.” He lied, truth was Yongguk’s entireleft side of his face was pulsating with pain. He was sure he had lost orchipped a tooth, or worse possibly somehow fractured his jaw. “Are you okay?”He questioned, a slight shake to his voice. Immediately, hearing hisvoice Tigger slowly approached him. Her nose sniffing his arm and gentlypressing against his skin. He practically threw his right arm towards his dog,petting her back while she stared at him. “You did good.”

Basically ignoring the girl beside him, Yongguk stood to hisfeet. Or attempted to anyway. Immediately once he was up, he fell back againstthe cement wall. And out of discomfort, his only reaction was to chuckle. Takinga deep breath in, the ringing in his ear stopped and his head felt clear onceagain.

Stepping past the girl and lifting his dropped weapon,Yongguk wanted to walk away and leave the girl where she stood. He knew she wasnow safe, so therefore Yongguk and his pet were no longer needed. Although, herolled his own eyes at himself as he turned around and limped back towards thegirl. “I’m Yongguk.” He spoke softly, not daring to open his mouth too far. “Andthis is Tigger, and just in case you didn’t notice we kick ass.”

“So, I’m thinking we should walk you home so if anyone triesanything again, we can kick their ass.”

Yongguk smiled against her lips as one of his long, thinfingers began drawing against her ribs. Taking his lips from hers and placingthem against her neck, he couldn’t help but bite her skin. Once assured itwould leave a large hickey, his lips kissed over the now red mark. Instantlyhis finger traced lower down her stomach, softly running along the thin fabricthat was tight over her hips.

Almost in an instant, he could feel the ache. His lipsrested against Youngshin’s ear as he whispered through a hot breath. “Tell meyou want it.” His voice was raspy and eager to hear what he practicallydemanded for. Yongguk pulled his face away and pressed his forehead againsthers. “Just say it, and I’ll give it to you.” He teased.

“Though I gotta tell you. There has been some pesky Bandits that are out to get me.” Soohyuk said with a small frown. “Which reminds, how did you get that cut on your lips? You didn’t think I wouldn’t notice did you?”

Yongguk kept his grip tight around Tigger’s chain as shewalked between them. Her head looking up every so often and giving an awinggaze to Soohyuk. He had a hard time trusting people, especially someone whoYongguk normally would have thrown a punch at here and there. Although, when itcame to the bandits, if Yongguk had to befriend any of them he was glad it wasSoohyuk.

The elder male was so caring for him, making sure he hadenough supplies and was staying out of trouble. However, that was never the casewhen it came to Yongguk. Before the younger male could ask Soohyuk to explainhis words, he bet him to it. Yongguk’s jaw clenched as he heard that his friendwas getting into trouble. Hypocritically, Yongguk wanted to yell at the malefor throwing himself onto the same level that Yongguk was on himself. However,he kept his lips shut. For now.

Almost freezing in his steps, Yongguk bit the corner of hislips. His teeth tracing over the slow healing scar that he had gotten from hislast violent encounter. “I- I um.” He stuttered. Not knowing what to say or howto say it to the other man. He knew the man wasn’t blind, nor was Soohyuk dumband probably already knew the truth. Fighting. That almost always seemed to bethe story for Yongguk’s new additional scars he added to his body. “I fellover.” He lied, facing his eyes towards Tigger and giving her the look ofsilence, despite the fact that she couldn’t speak to tell Soohyuk the truth.

“Besides.” He continued, changing his face as he looked backup at Soohyuk. “No pain, no gain.” Yongguk’s steps kicked back up as he onceagain walked beside the man. “Let’s not talk about me though…” He appeared somodest, however Yongguk was only trying to escape the millions of lies andlectures he knew were in store for him if Soohyuk even believed his lie. “Whatdid you do to get on the bad side of your own kind?” He didn’t mean to sound sobitter or accusing, however the years built up of hating those around him thatweren’t innocent bystanders caused him to be aggressive and nasty towardsanyone in a certain occupation. Which unfortunately for Soohyuk, was none otherthan the bandits and the soldiers in the military.

Outside the rain was falling, keeping a cool breeze in the room that was quickly otherwise becoming heated. 

Yongguk laid comfortably on his newly constructed bed, his fingertips tracing against Youngshin’s bare thigh.

Silence bounced through the room as his hand began travelling higher, resting around her hip. He stared up at her, knowing that this wasn’t their first, or last encounter that played out like this. One of the soft breezes pushed the scent of her perfume up Yongguk’s nose, bringing a heavy sigh to leave his lips. His arms fell to his side as he sat himself up beneath her, gripping one of his large hands gently around the lace of her bra. His lips pressing against her chest and travelling upwards towards her neck.

Letting out a deep breath against her skin, his arms wrapped around her body switching their positions. His undone jeans sitting lazily on his hips, Yongguk continued to pamper Youngshin. His kisses becoming a little more aggressive as they began travelling down her body. He made sure to touch every inch of her bare stomach, resting his lips against one of her hips. He raised his body to hover over hers.

“Well, you know what they say. I’m a ladies’s man after all. Tigger here just can’t seem to resist my charm.” Soohyuk joked, stepping forward and reducing the space between him and Yongguk. “Now come here. It’s been a long time since I got a good look at your face. Didn’t get it all banged up by any low life civilian thugs now have you?” Soohyuk asked as he lifted the younger man’s face with both his hands. Though his voice sounded teasing, Soohyuk was genuinely scanning for any cuts or bruises that he might need to treat.

Cocking his eyebrow,Yongguk rolled at his eyes at the confident man before him. “You’ve always beena cocky bastard since we met.” He joked, reaching down and petting his dog onthe head. Tying the thick chain Yongguk had claimed for her lead around herneck, he wrapped the hoop closest to him around his wrist. Making it nearimpossible for her to wander to any other bystanders.

Flinching slightly as Soohyuk’s warm hands pressed againsthis face, he let out an uncomfortable groan. Pulling his head further back inorder to keep his personal space. Although it was no use, Soohyuk was muchsterner than the younger male. “You know me.” He exclaimed, smiling an almostcheeky grin at the other man who was still the main focus of Tigger.

Hehoped Soohyuk wouldn’t notice the small, barely visible cut on his lip.

Gripping his hands over the other male’s, he pulled themdown and away from his own face. “What about you?” Yongguk began walking,instructing for Soohyuk to follow him.

Naeun’s stomach twisted at the implications. Still, she held her ground, jaw tightening as she looked up at the stranger. There was no way that the bandit was going to just let them walk away from this unscathed. But there was no way that Naeun was going to risk this man taking a beating for her either.

A soft breath againstYongguk’s shoulder caused him to turn around, facing down into the girl’s dark,innocent eyes. He was sure she could see the anger in his expression, notdirected towards her however. Yongguk thought about it, leaving like shesuggested. But it had been so long since he had experienced some adrenaline pumping,blood boiling excitement. Although this time was much different, the last timeYongguk only had himself to worry about. Now he was responsible for the girl,and his dog.

Before he could reply, his voice was out-spoken by the thug’s.Almost growling along with his pet who stood, un-phased beside the girl. Tigger’sattention on the bandit who tried to make up a different sort of offer fortheir safe escape. It made Yongguk’s stomach flip. “How, how dare you.” Yonggukglared at the man before him, practically forgetting about the girl behind himas he lost his cool.

Due to his rough upbringing, Yongguk had gained pity forwoman. Watching just how useless and incapable they appeared to men like theswine standing before him. “She’s not even half your age.” Not caring for theresidents or by-passes, he practically screamed in the bandit’s face. “You’rejust a sick, fuck.”

Copping a hard hit across the face with the end of thepistol, Yongguk’s jaw cracked. Out of survival instinct, his hand grippedacross his chin. Without thinking, Tigger leaped forwards towards the man. Hersharp, strong canines digging into his leg. The metallic taste of blood pouredinto Yongguk’s mouth, although he still stood. Gripping even tighter around thebat, he threw a crack to the man’s nose. Sending a blood curdling scream toecho through the alley.

With a manic laugh, he sauntered closer. “So what’s it gonna be, kid?” he demanded, staring down the man with the baseball bat, ignoring the low growl building in the dog’s throat as he neared the trio. He lifted his pistol once more, sliding the safety off with an audible click and admiring the firearm almost boredly. “Seems to me you should pay up for ruining my night like this.”

Yongguk’s body stiffened as he watched the girl leap towardshim. Hiding behind his shoulder with her body tense, he watched as she wrappedher arms around her stomach. He hadn’t yet seen her up-close, how long and softher hair looked. How innocent and pure her face seemed, it made him sick tothink of what would of happened if it weren’t for their passing.

His blood boiling with each word that fell from the thug’s lips,Yongguk stepped slightly to the side. Aiming to block the girl from the man’sview. His hand tightening around the grip of his bat, Yongguk felt as thoughhis stomach was churning. How badly he wanted to throw a punch between thebandit’s eyes, he knew exactly where to hit to break the bone. However, he knewhow powerless he really was when it came to the weapons.

Flexing his arms, he crossed them over his chest. His batlightly bumping into his lower stomach as it hung down from his hand. He couldfeel himself ticking, like a bomb counting down the seconds until it blows.Clenching his jaw, Yongguk cleared his throat. Refusing to budge as the largerman stepped closer to them, his bat quickly forcing itself in front of his pet,pushing her back and behind him beside the girl. Although her view was blocked,Tigger still awaited the call for attack.

Yongguk listened as the man continued to speak, his bodytwitching as the gun was once again close to his face. Sighing heavily, heturned and faced the girl. Looking down as he whispered to her. “Take my dog,and go.”

The bandit shifted his grip on her again and eyed the snarling dog, clearly wavering.

Yongguk’s eyes continued to glare at the thug before him.Truth was, he had no idea what to do when it came to a firearm. He had onlyobtained the talent with blunt objects and blades, such as his bat in his handand the hunting knife hidden in his coat. Although neither of them couldcompare to a weapon as deadly as a pistol. And it was staring Yongguk right inthe face, if the bandit were to pull the trigger Yongguk knew that the bulletwould go straight between his eyes, causing instant death.

Then there was Tigger, he knew there was the chance he’dbeat into her once he went down. And this man, despite Yongguk’s long legs, wasmuch taller and stronger. One thing that shifted him slightly on edge wasknowing that he would do it too. And then there was the innocent girl in thebandit’s grip. Yongguk knew how helpless she would be if he had decided to domore than just rob her once Yongguk went down.

He didn’t budge however, bat still in his hand and Tiggerstill aggressive at his side. He knew the bandit was out-numbered. Three toone, he just hoped those odds were on his side. Yongguk bit his tongue as hewatched the girl struggle, knowing his smart-ass comments would only make thematter worse. Although he almost choked once she negotiated with him, yet stillhe kept his mouth shut.

Yongguk bit his lip as the monster looked between the girland his dog. “She won’t go after you unless I tell her too, and if you let hergo my dog won’t chase you.” Yongguk hadn’t used the word promise, as it wasn’tone. Yongguk hadn’t taught her not to chase the bad guy, therefor he wasn’tcertain what Tigger would do if the bandit decided to leave. He could tell thelarge man was thinking about his options, what would happen if he shot Yongguk,what would happen if he shot the dog – and what would happen if he left allthree of them be.

Sighing in relief, Yongguk kept his eyes on the pistol as itwas lowered back to the man’s side. Tigger immediately calming down slightlytoo. She was still on guard however, picking up on Yongguk’s emotions. “Good,now just let her go.” He demanded.

Just then, a loud noise from the other end of the alley made all three of them flinch. Naeun lifted a hand to her still stinging cheek as the pair of bandits both tensed on either side of her, hands reaching for the weapons they hadn’t bothered to draw until now.

The loud swing of his bat caught the focus of two large men, much bigger than Yongguk himself. And a young female, a growing red slap mark appearing on her face. He tilted his head slightly as he watched her cover her clearly aching cheek. Yongguk cocked one of his eyebrows, coming to a complete stop as the two bandits reached for their own weapons.

Yongguk wasn’t frightened, although he could tell the girl only a few metres away from his was. He could see it on her expression that she was terrified of these two men on either side of her. If he was a woman, Yongguk too would fear these men. He knew himself what they were capable of, just how much muscle power they had and how sociopathic they were. Never feeling bad for the crimes they commit, no matter the victims gender or age. She was clearly smart enough to know that she should be as scared as she was, Yongguk thought.

“I’m so sick of you pricks.” Yongguk spat, rolling his eyes while a sour expression fell over his face. “Why do you even pick on girls, I mean look at her.” Bat in his hand, Yongguk pointed towards the tiny female in the middle of them.

“This is none of your bus-“before one of the two men could finish speaking, Yongguk cut him off. Continuing on with his own thoughts.

“If either of you were a real man, you wouldn’t even think about picking on someone like her.” He discouraged, insulting their masculinity. Taking a step closer to the girl, he narrowed his eyebrows as one of the two leaped forwards.

If there was one thing Yongguk was good at, it was fighting. Due to the years of training equal to those in the military and the constant strive for acceptance by his father, he knew he could protect at least himself and those weaker. Yongguk had developed a good arm with bats, swinging it directly in line of the bandit’s head, Yongguk watched as the man stumbled with a bloody temple. “No, no – if either of you were real men, you’d at least go for someone your own gender.” He snickered.

Yongguk hadn’t noticed the second bandit’s pistol aimed towards his chest until he turned back to face the man. Freezing in his tracks before stepping any closer, his eyes glued to the weapon. Although, he didn’t appear to be frightened, even though he himself only had a bat. Taking his eyes from the gun and glaring back up into the man’s, he let a “psst” sound leave his lips.

Immediately, the sound of four paws hitting the ground could be heard. Out of the shadows, appeared none other than Tigger, stopping at Yongguk’s side. Her growl echoed through the small alley, making it even louder than usual. The man looked between Yongguk and his dog, and Yongguk could tell he was trying to think of some sort of plan. “If you shoot me, you have to deal with that.” He began, taking a quick look down at his pet.

And in an instant, Yongguk looked away. Finding it so hard to see his pet looking so mean. “But then, if you shoot her you have to deal with me.” The thought triggered something in Yongguk, turning his face to mean rather than confident. “And trust me, I promise I will make you pay.”

With light and steady steps and a shift of his hood, he made his way through the abandoned buildings. Making sure to keep his head low and to avoid any unnecessary eye contacts with the civilians that were walking around like him. The left side of his shoulder felt oddly empty and subconsciously, Soohyuk looked up to the dark grey skies. Hoping to catch a glimpse of his avian that was apparently, nowhere to be seen.

Well, Sova never liked flying when it was about to rain anyways.

“Coming to get these again?” the voice was old, but fairly familiar. With a tilt of his head, black orbs looked up to see the face on an old man holding a few packets of food supplies. “That, and also with some batteries if you have them.” The male answered with a cordial smile, pulling out a few of the things he owned to trade.

With the items he needed in hand, Soohyuk was ready to leave. That’s was until he felt a heavy weight falling on top of his back, startling him out of his wits. “Wha – Tigger?” Black orbs blink in confusion. “Nice to see you girl. What are you doing here?” the male asked, despite the fact that Tigger wasn’t exactly capable of answering him.

“Where’s that cold fella you’re always with? You ran off without him again?” The raven head said with a light chuckle.

Practically bolting towards the sounds of his dogs bark, Yongguk panted. People stared at him as he rushed through the quickly building crowd. All thinking he looked like some sort of maniac, running through this amount of people. Yongguk was in a slight panic, although he tried to hide the worried expression on his face. Without his dog, everything would slowly become nothing.

It felt like he had ran a full ten blocks, however the fact that Yongguk basically sprinted the entire way to his pet was the reason he appeared so out of breath. “Tigger.” Yongguk called out, earning his dogs attention. Rolling his eyes as he came to a complete stop, he allowed the somewhat stranger to continue bonding with his dog. “Look man,” Yongguk began. “I’m really sorry.” He slowly caught his breath.

“Again.” Yongguk continued before letting out a deep chuckle, kneeling down and allowing the overly-excited canine to jump all over him. Gripping hold of her face either side, Yongguk forced her eyes to stare into his as he sat eye-level to the pet. “You need to stop running away, you don’t know how much you worry me when you leave my side.” He must have looked ridiculous, not only to those passing, but the man in front of them too. Although, he couldn’t care. His heart still was racing a million times a second, it felt as though it was about to burst from his chest. Despite Yongguk being stern with Tigger, her response was as expected, playful.

“Again, I’m really sorry Soohyuk.” Yongguk had met the man before him on many occasions. Most of them playing out exactly like this one. Yongguk’s dog hearing the man’s voice, running towards him and practically charging at him. One would think by now, that Yongguk would assume his pet had ran off to greet the man. But he just couldn’t shake the bad thoughts out of his head, he had a habit of quite often expecting the worst. It was just one of the many qualities that made Bang Yongguk, himself.

“I really don’t know why she always does this.” Yongguk stood back to his feet, smiling his usual gummy smile before releasing a deep sigh from his lips. “She usually runs away from people, not towards them.”

A cool breeze against his skin, bat beside him, Yongguk sat with his knees to his chest, awaiting for the moment where his dog would grow tired from playing so they could head home. Although it was getting rather dark, he wasn’t scared. Yongguk had never been frightened of the monsters hiding in the darkness, he rarely got terrified of anything. A heavy sigh left his lips as his eyes continued to trace the street. He was dressed in his usual style. His jacket sitting on the other side of him, his black singlet tight against his torso. A pair of dark jeans and his dirty, mud covered boots. There was barely any light as the sun continued to set, fast. The only thing keeping the street lit up was the one, collapsing streetlight. Every so often his eyes would wander back to Tigger who continued to run like an idiot, as usual. He laughed at her each time she did something funny, only encouraging her to continue on her act. “You nearly ready to go home?” He called out, slightly raising her voice in order to catch her attention. No one else passed through the street, which wasn’t odd as most people prefer to be safely in their homes once the sun starts setting, Yongguk didn’t mind however. The fresh air was nice against his own skin, let alone how it must have felt to have so much freedom for Tigger. She ran around in circles, jumping over obstacles that were already prepared for her arrival. “You’re not even listening to me are you?” Lifting his bat within his grip and throwing his jacket over his shoulder, Yongguk shook his head with a soft smile against his lips, standing up and heading over towards his occupied pet. Bending his knees and separating his arms, Tigger began running for Yongguk. Her strong body clashing with his and almost sending him backwards as she leaped into him. However, Yongguk could only laugh slightly as her tongue licked all over him. “Stop- stop it.” Yongguk joked, once again only encouraging her to continue. Standing up and wiping along his now wet jaw, he smiled while placing his hand against her neck. She followed him as he began to walk away, soon catching up and like usual, Tigger walked close to Yongguk’s side. “We really should head home now.” He smiled while taking slower steps in order to keep her beside him. As they walked along a few blocks, Tigger’s attitude changed. Her hackles began to stand on edge as they passed a small alley way. Yongguk not noticing at first, walked passed his dog and whatever she was focusing upon. Although, not hearing the soft pitter-patters of Tigger’s paws caused him to stop a few steps ahead. He turned back, narrowing his eyebrows as he watched his pet carry on. She stood as though she was ready to pounce, much like Yongguk had taught her too. She looked the same as she did when she accompanied Yongguk on his hunts, which raised some concern. Yongguk stepped closer and looked the same way Tigger was. His eyes squinting slightly to make out the scene better. His grip got tighter around his bat as his gut began feeling tight. Due to the lack of light within the street, Yongguk could barely make out what was happening deeper within the alley. Looking down at his pet, Yongguk demanded her to sit and wait while he went ahead and checked it out. Hearing the soft begs and cries of what sounded like a woman, his own hackles began to stand up. Tigger obeyed his order and sat down, still on edge and looking aggressive. Bending down, Yongguk raised Tigger’s head in his free large hand. “Stay.” He ordered with a much sterner voice. “Promise me.” Before standing back up right and heading towards the chaos, he left a small peck against the top of Tigger’s head. Looking back every so often to make sure that his pet was still staying, he purposely hit his bat against a large, over-full bin, the sound echoed and caused some sort of reaction from whoever was in the alley.

The sky was grey as the clouds covered the city with a depressing overcast, Yongguk’s heavy-duty boots could be heard crunching against the leaves and fallen bits of bark as he stomped along the footpath. He was dressed for comfort rather than to impress anyone, wearing nothing but a light grey hoodie, dark jeans and one of the many pairs of boots he once shared with his twin brother. Alongside him, trotting at the same speed was Tigger. Her sleek black coat was soft as it brushed up against his hand every so often. Although he was quiet, Yongguk’s mind was running crazy. He had been thinking about so much lately, including what his future held. If he would even have a future, it didn’t surprise him that there was the chance that he may not make it past the age of 30. He could smell the sweet scent of food getting closer with each step he took, and he knew they were getting closer to their destination. The market was by far Yongguk’s heaven on earth, there he could get everything he needed and when he wasn’t given his belongings of choice for free, he only had to trade cheaply. It was a win – win for Yongguk, and Tigger. A few steps later, and Yongguk had made it to the market. Tigger followed her master up the stairs, her paws clapping against the cement as she stuck close behind Yongguk. Not daring to leave his side until told otherwise. Stopping at the top of the stairs, Yongguk looked around and thought about what he needed and where was the best place to retrieve everything that was on his mental list. After figuring out what he was there for, Yongguk began walking around. Passing people who were stepping within his comfort zone, his and Tigger’s. Her feet kept up with Yongguk’s fast pacing steps until he came to a stop, and when he did she followed. Sitting down on her backside beside him, still close. “Oh look who it is.” An elderly woman stood to her feet once she noticed she had customers. Yongguk smiled, noticing her face and voice. “How are you today dear?” Yongguk loved coming to the stand that had pet treats, toys and supplies like food and furniture. The elderly lady had helped Yongguk get Tigger’s health back to outstanding standards, she had also given Yongguk everything he needed. And always insisted on him keeping his trades, telling him that whatever he had, was no use there. And this day was going to be no different, Yongguk could tell. “I’m pretty good, ‘yaself?” He responded. The conversation was held for a few minutes before Yongguk’s attention dropped to his side. His entire body went into panic as he realized his dog was missing. Tigger had disappeared from Yongguk’s side, and it wasn’t until he heard the happy dog barking in the distance that he began searching for her.
