it may be a minor thing, but i guess i'm gonna share it anyways.

so, zooble. outside of the show it was stated that they go by any pronouns. within the show however, they/them is used exclusively for them.

so, as it stands, they're not representation for people who go by any pronouns since it's literally not anywhere in the show and you wouldn't even know it if you weren't online enough, and they're technically not representation for people who go by they/them since it's not canon.

and it feels like fence sitting to me. like they tried to have a cake (a non-binary character) and eat it too (no you can't misgendering them actually, don't think about their pronouns at all).

and what about many of tadc's official dubs, especially in gendered languages? this is such a good opportunity to represent neopronouns non-binary speakers have created to finally have a space for themselves in their own lang- she/her & feminine grammatical gender exclusively.

THEY DON'T EVEN DO FUN SHIT WITH THEIR GENDER IN THE OTHER LANGUAGES??? Oh my GOD they fucked up with Zooble's representation in that regard. The fact that it's exclusively fem too is... hm. I guess we know what their AGAB is after all 💀

And I agree about their pronoun situation. I didn't know how to phrase it well myself but yeah, whether you Zooble's pronouns as they/them or any/all, Goose really flubbed how they were presented in-show. And it does kind of feel like an easy cop-out for fans to technically-not-misgender Zooble constantly.

credits where credits are due: in the spanish translation, zooble uses gender neutral neopronouns. this is, as you can imagine, very controversial. this could apply to other languages as well, but i only speak spanish and english, so i wouldn't know and wouldn't be able to check.

and to give glitch and gooseworx the benefit of the doubt: i know that they themselves don't make the translations and hire companies and teams to do this, so it might get complicated to have such gendered language within translations in these instances. with gooseworx particularly, i'm not sure if she would be able to put her foot down with this in mind. glitch, however.... i'm sure that if they put their foot down, it could've been possible.

i won't comment on the any pronouns bit because i agree with it.

i've also been working on this idea, and i've managed to make it make a little sense: in this au, the soma theory wouldn't apply, and their bodies are in a state of comatose while they're in the circus.

my idea for it is that, when the cast inevitably tries to escape, instead of failing, they actually succeed! alas, pomni is the only one who actually gets out, being the only one who's actually alive in the real world. from there on, she sets up the goal to eventually bring everyone into the real world by transporting their consciousness into bodies they could inhabit like.... robot bodies.... drools. though that's just wishful thinking, they'd actually be in an electric dreams situation and be stuck in computers if they DO get transported out of the circus.

i've been fiddling with this idea for a LONG time and i can't never get it right, it's so frustrating!!! i don't want to just draw her doing it, because that doesn't sit right with me, and anything too abstract is hard for me to think a concept of that can work and still be about it. atm i might just rip off one of my old drawings and make it about her…. GET EASIER TO DRAW!!!! NOW!!!!!!!!
