Faith— it is so much easier said than done.Â
Hebrews 11:1 (NIV)
“Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.”
It shouldn't be hard to know that God has a great future in store for you, right? To know that you can accomplish your dreams with the help of your Lord and Savior……but what about right now? What are you supposed to be doing in the meantime?
I believe that now is the time to put your faith in action! And to me, putting your faith in action means you are fully trusting in God, but along with trusting, it also means ACTING out of faith! There is a time to wait upon the Lord, but I do not see the point in waiting…and waiting…and waiting…until God perfectly aligns things in order for you as you sit back, relax, and enjoy the show. I think “waiting upon the Lord” has been taken out of context way too many times.
Isaiah 40:31 (KJV)
“But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.”
When I read this verse, I tend to think more about being empowered and strengthened by God to sprint and to soar, and less about the waiting. This verse has a lot more to do with actions than it does about being still!
*In faith, we should be stepping out. What if God was waiting on YOUÂ to take a step of faith into the unknown before He revealed to you what was next?*
Imagine you are driving down the interstate late at night with only the light of your headlights leading the way. This light shines onto the next 10 feet or so in front of you, which means you cannot see where you are going to end up. In fact, you can't even see when you need to turn to the right or to the left until your headlights light the way, and you can't see where to exit until the timing is just right. However, you keep on driving until you make it to your final destination. You are well aware that you cannot get to where you need to go simply by sitting in a parked car on the interstate without actually pressing the gas and moving forward.
It may seem scary and uncertain, but one thing you can be sure of is knowing that God is with you each step of the way! He is your biggest fan and will lead, guide, and direct your path!
So what are you waiting for? Start driving!
Isaiah 58:11 (NIV)
"The Lord will guide you always; he will satisfy your needs in a sun-scorched land and will strengthen your frame You will be like a well-watered garden, like a spring whose waters never fail."
 Psalm 119:105-106 (MSG)
"By your words I can see where I’m going; they throw a beam of light on my dark path. I’ve committed myself and I’ll never turn back from living by your righteous order."
Sounds like the start of a bad bar joke, right? WRONG.
The Qualities of God’s Glamour Girl By Jacqueline J. Overpeck Who is God’s glamour girl and what are her admirable qualities?
According to Scripture, she is:
G – Gorgeous inside and out She fears the Lord knowing He is the source of all good things.
Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the LORD is to be praised. Proverbs 31:30
L – Laughter She’s isn’t afraid to laugh out loud and she looks for ways to encourage others.
…the joy of the LORD is your strength. Nehemiah 8:10
A – All about adoration She’s got a heart for applauding her King. She loves to praise and worship her God.
Shout for joy to the LORD, all the earth. Worship the LORD with gladness; come before him with joyful songs. Psalm 100:1-2
M – Mercy Her heart is full of compassion and her hands are ready to serve.
Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity. Colossians 3:12-14
O – Original She’s uniquely herself. She places her whole life in God’s hands—knowing as His creation she already shines like a star.
For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made… Psalm 139:13-14
U – Understanding She has a ravenous appetite for wisdom and she loves to read the Bible. She’s thirsty for truth and delights in understanding the mysteries of God.
By wisdom a house is built, and through understanding it is established; through knowledge its rooms are filled with rare and beautiful treasures. Proverbs 24:3-4
R – Righteousness She keeps herself pure. She desires to be an untarnished vessel for God’s anointing to flow through. Nothing is more important to God’s Glamour Girl than establishing heaven’s kingdom on earth.
But as for me, I will always have hope; I will praise you more and more. My mouth will tell of your righteousness, of your salvation all day long. Psalm 71:14-15
TRUE GLAMOUR God’s glamour girl is gorgeous inside and out. She’s filled with laughter. She has a song in her heart. Mercy springs from her spirit. She’s totally original. Her Bible is handy. She uses her unique gifts and talents to share the saving message of Jesus with the world.
Do you sometimes feel like there is so much on your plate that you are constantly running to get it all done? There are seasons when we need to go the extra mile and give it our all, and there are seasons to rest and rejuvenate. I love what today’s scripture tells us—that during those times when it’s necessary; we can run and not grow weary!
What are you facing that seems to be taking all your energy? Wait on the Lord today. Expect, look for, and hope in Him. The Bible promises that when you live with expectancy, when you stay hopeful, when you make preparations for the goodness of God, you’ll rise up higher. Your strength will be renewed. In other words, you will overcome life’s challenges.
You may have difficulties today, but if you can just get up every morning expecting God to turn it around, staying positive and hopeful; then God promises you will rise up higher into the strength and victory He has in store for you.
What's my purpose?
Ephesians 1:11-12 (MSG)
"It’s in Christ that we find out who we are and what we are living for. Long before we first heard of Christ and got our hopes up, he had his eye on us, had designs on us for glorious living, part of the overall purpose he is working out in everything and everyone."
This verse is absolutely beautiful to me. It answers so many questions in such a short and sweet kind of way...
IN CHRIST is where we find out our true purpose. Starting from such a young age, it is embedded in our brains that we are here on earth for a reason, and it is up to US to figure out what that reason is.
"What do you what to do when you grow up?"
"Where do you want to go to college?"
"What do you want to major in?"
"What kind of job do you want?"
"Where do you see yourself in the next 5 years?"
"When do you want to get married?
"How many children do you want?"
"Where do you want to live?"
These questions (along with several others) are asked on a regular basis. The funny thing is that when we are Christians and completely surrender "our plans" over to Him, HE takes the pen. HE writes our story. It isn't about what we want anymore or how we think our lives will pan out...We realize our purpose in this life is for something so much greater than just ourselves. This passage in Ephesians states all of this in such a simplistic way that is truly amazing to me. God's eye was on us BEFORE our eye was on Him, and He "had designs on us for glorious living" well before we were ever asked any one of these questions. There is an overall purpose for everything and everyone that we cannot even fathom! How exciting!!
So my question is this: Why waste our time worrying about how to correctly answer these types of questions when it isn't up to us to figure out in the first place? Instead, let's ask GOD. Allow Him to be in control. His purpose is now your purpose. Our goal is for His ways to be our ways. He will lead us if we just allow Him to. That's what we were created for anyways!
 Psalm 25:5 (NIV)
"Guide me in your truth and teach me,     for you are God my Savior,     and my hope is in you all day long."
Psalm 32:8 (NIV)
"I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my loving eye on you."
Matthew 7:7 (NIV)
“Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you."
It feels so good to know that there is freedom in Christ! We don't have to have all the answers because we submit to the One who does! I challenge you today to ask the Holy Spirit to guide you throughout this day and before you know it, you will be living out God's purpose for your life because you will be trusting in HIM and HIM alone for each and every decision! :)Â
 Proverbs 3:5-12 (MSG)
Trust God from the bottom of your heart;     don’t try to figure out everything on your own. Listen for God’s voice in everything you do, everywhere you go;     he’s the one who will keep you on track. Don’t assume that you know it all.     Run to God! Run from evil! Your body will glow with health,     your very bones will vibrate with life! Honor God with everything you own;     give him the first and the best. Your barns will burst,     your wine vats will brim over. But don’t, dear friend, resent God’s discipline;     don’t sulk under his loving correction. It’s the child he loves that God corrects;     a father’s delight is behind all this.
The righteous shall flourish like a palm tree… Psalm 92:12, NIV.
Have you ever seen a palm tree in the midst of a great storm? That tree may be bent so far over that it’s almost touching the ground, but when the wind finally stops, that palm tree bounces right back up. What’s interesting is that while that palm tree is hunched over under the pressure of the storm, it is actually becoming stronger.
See, the reason God said we’d flourish like a palm tree is because He knew there would be difficult times. He knew things would come against us to try to steal our joy and victory. But God said, “You’re going to be like a palm tree because when the storms of life blow, you are going to come right back up stronger than before.”
As you reflect on the events over the last year, remember, the storms you have encountered have only made you stronger. You are wiser, you are more alive, and you are headed for victory. Your brightest days are right out in front of you! Always remember that with God on your side, nothing can hold you back!
