A Path

There is a path that's made for you that only you can see,

Nestled 'tween the dreams and hopes that others have for thee.

It's hard enough to find and yet it's harder to traverse.

For every tittle that you stray the path becomes perverse.

But if you would just breath with weight and feel your feet dig in,

You'd find that staying on the path is guided from within.

Close your eyes and hear the simple humming of your heart,

And know that all you'll ever need you had right from the start

You'll always feel good to me. Even if it's just a hug. Even when the specifics get jumbled and faded, you'll always feel inherently good to me. Somewhere a memory sparks and I will always feel right in your arms.

Thomas. I am leaving for my trip Sunday morning. One never knows what may happen but.... I know that with you to take over the leader of the family that everything will be in capable hands. You have proven yourself over the years and I know you can guide the family through any crisis. This is just between you and me. Mom always worries when I travel so I don't want her to worry more. Love you son!

Heart-Cart

I think that I could probably just cut my heart right out.

It no longer belongs to me so check your heart-cart out.

I’ll put it in a Ziploc bag and place it on some ice.

Still pulsing in the plastic, such a lovely, gory site.

Whenever you feel down or blue just take the muscle out.

And squeeze it tightly as you can and belt this boisterous shout.

“This heart is mine, I paid for it with trust and love and lust.

It’s proof that I am worthy of someone and of so much.

And though I keep it close I know that this was always true.

But this ones mine and it reminds me where I’m going to.”

Truest Selves

You know the thing about trust is that you have to be honest with yourself first. Ask yourself "Do I actually like this person? Am I honestly interested in this job?", and then make those answers clear to everyone in your life. People don't examine themselves enough and as a result they're lying to everyone about their truest desires and wants. Mostly because they're afraid of those desires and wants being rejected. But how will anyone ever find the place, person, or time that is meant for them if they're not projecting their truest selves into the world?
