Tears rolled down Mikey's face as he shouted, "Master Splinter!! April! Casey!" he paused, "Anyone!!" he knew that calling out their names would be hopeless, since Splinter took them for a training lesson, but he didn't care. He just continued calling out for them.

Moments later, and to Mikey's luck, the rest of his family had just arrived home. "Hey, Leo and Mikey were back!" April said, as her voice echoed through the empty lair, "Guys?"

Casey looked around the room, then said, "Are you trying to prank us? 'Cause it ain't wor—"

"We're in here!" a cracked voice said, coming from the lab.

They rushed into the lab and saw Mikey on the floor, holding Leo gently—who was now unconscious—as his eye continued to bleed.

"Michelangelo, what happened here?!" Splinter questioned, as he grabbed gauze and started to clean off some of the blood.

"Well, you see..."

40 minutes later...

"—and then Raph and Donnie just left. It was like they didn't even care anymore." Mikey finally finished.

"Oh, so that's why we saw them as we walked back." April said.

"Wait, what?! Why didn't you stop them?"

"Well, Raph said something about Donnie picking up some strange Kranng activity near the area, and then said that they were go'n to check it out." Casey stopped for a second, and began to scratch his head. "So, I guess it just didn't occur to us." he explained.

Splinter sighed. "This conversation is pointless," everyone now looked at him, "right now, our main concern is getting Leonardo cleaned up, and quickly." he then turned to April, "And I'm going to need your help."

She nodded her head in reply. ————————————————————————

Raph started to breathe heavily as Leo tripped him with his katanas. He tried to get up quickly before Leo could strike him again, but instead he rolled over to the left, away from Leo's reach.

"Heh, this kinda reminds me of that one training session Sensei made us do, only difference is, I won't let you win this time," Raph said.

"Well, the best thing I can do is at least try!" Leo shouted, as he rushed to Raph.

Before Leo could attack Raph, he suddenly kicked a katana loose from Leo's hand.

Both of Leo's hands now rested on his last katana, as he went into a fighting stance. Hmmmm. It seems Raph developed a new habit, to remove a weapon from his enemy before striking with great force. Interesting... he thought.

Raph stood up, but his shell was against a wall, which was something Leo thought he could use to his advantage. So he sprinted to Raph, and kneed him in the gut—before he could strike Leo. "Raph!! You must stop this madness! We're brothers!!" Leo points to Donnie and Mikey—who were still fighting one another. "We all are brothers!"

"Ugghhh," Raph sighed, "you were always the lecturing one." he smirked.

Leo then held up his sword toward Raph, but suddenly, Donnie pushed Raph out of the way, and sheared Leo's eye with his bo staff.

Leo's right eye felt like it was pounding—burning. He touched his eye and saw blood on his fingers.

Mikey rushed to his injured brother and tried to talk to him, but Leo never answered.

He seemed shocked, about the outcome. He wondered why Donnie attacked him so viciously, but he also felt that that question won't be revealed anytime soon.

Raph signaled to Donnie, and he nodded his head in reply. They both started to walk towards the exit, and Mikey noticed their departure.

"Hey, wait a minute, aren't you going to help? Our brother is bleeding out! He needs medical attention right away, and I don't know anything about that." Mikey paused, "Please."

Raph stopped and turned around quickly, "He stopped being our brother the moment he obsessed over getting a chemical for Karai, so she could get back to normal. We clearly understand that Karai should be de-mutated, but he has a habit about sacrificing himself way too often. It's gone too far." Raph now continued to walk out with Donnie, but before he left, he said, "Sayonara, Michelangelo."

One hour later...

Leo had finally come back from his outing. His left shoulder was bruised pretty badly and he had a cut there too. Well that could have been avoided... he thought as he walked down the steps.

He noticed Mikey immediately, he found him sitting on the couch, staring at Donnie's lab. He tried to think what could have happened that would make Mikey look so... miserable. He wasn't sure on how he should approach this situation, so he just started to talk, saying, "Uh, hey, Mikey." He turned his head to face Leo upon hearing his voice. "Are you feeling ok?"

He then got up, ran to Leo, and shook him violently, shouting, "Where have you been, dude! Raph and Dee have gone crazy!!"

"Mi—k—ey!! St—op, sh—"

"—And they even kicked me out of the lab! Can you believe that!? You seriously need to help them!! Please!" he then finally stopped shaking Leo, and he fell on the floor. "Uh, Leo?" he looked down to find Leo on the floor. Realizing what he did, he said, "Oh, sorry, dude.."

Five minutes later, and Leo said, "Now if you excuse me, I have a score to settle."

Mikey smiled, and helped his brother up, and together they walked to the lab doors.

KKYYRRRGGGG! GGRRRRING!

"Ahh! Perfect!!" Donnie said, putting down the handheld laser, and now holding his new and improved, bo staff.

"Sick! Leo'll never know what hit 'em."

"Raphael!!" a voice roared, as the lab doors opened, revealing that it was Leo, with Mikey tailing behind. He turned to Donnie, saying, "Donnie, what are you doing?"

He didn't answer his brother's question, he just stared, as if thinking.

Leo was about to repeat what he had said, but Raph spoke over him, saying, "Don't worry Leo, he already has chosen his side."

Mikey then asked, "What's that supposed to mean, dude?"

"Oh, I wouldn't think you could understand, little brother.." Raph then sped up towards him.

Mikey was able to pull out his nunchucks just in time before could Raph hit him.

"Hrrgghhh! What's the matter!? Was it somethin' I said?"

Raph didn't answer, he only grunted and growled as he tried to attack Mikey. He then got hold of Mikey's right nunchuck and flung it away.

Now Mikey had one left, and he knew that Raph wasn't the brother he remembered anymore, leading to the fact that he wouldn't show any mercy either. Raph started to twist his sai around Mikey's wrist, breaking it, then he tossed him to the ground.

"Ahhh—oww!" Mikey grunted.

Leo then stopped fighting Donnie, and was horrified by this. Then he shouted, "Hey, don't hurt Mikey!!" He unsheathed both katanas, and jumped towards Raph, "HA-RAA!!" The sound of metal banging on metal echoed tho throughout the lab, and even ringed in the lair too.

"Uhh—owww." Mikey repeated, gripping his wrist.

Donnie looked down at Mikey, and something urged him, maybe deep down he wanted to help the injured. He crept forward, and Mikey looked up suddenly—his eyes filled with innocence—and Donnie tossed a wrist brace. He said, "I will not fight someone who is injured."

Mikey then quickly equipped it, grabbed one nunchuck with his good hand, and stood up.

Donnie started to attack him by hitting the sides of the little turtle, then blocked quickly, and jumped over Mikey to kick him in the shell.

Mikey almost fell over, but luckily, he held his ground.————————————————————————

Another Sketchbook Art Dump~~

Life's been a lot lately-- but God has been blessing me with more quiet evenings and nights so I can draw and get my thoughts out. :) So, here's all the sketches I've drawn these last few weeks!

Not positive if I'm going to permanently gift the fear of thunder and lightning to Mikey or not-- but the concept was well worth drawing just so I could make some soft Raph comfort for his little bro <3

Just some practice with character expressions and positions-- don't ask who the dude is, I don't know either. XD

And now we have some practice in character poses with redraws from the 2012 series! :)

Hehhe I absolutely love how this last sketch turned out! It's difficult for me to draw many characters interacting on one page, but I surprised myself with being able to fit them all and look close enough to the source material! HUZZAH IMPROVEMENT!!

That's all I got for now! :) Maybe once this busy season ends I can get back to creating my story-- but for now, instead of getting swept up and dragged in the slashing winds of a hectic life, I'll just ride the breeze and see where it takes me. See where He takes me. <3

"Ok, Leo is acting crazy, right?" Donnie said.

"Yeah," Raph answered quickly, thinking.

"Like, why would he want me to rush? Doesn't he want to save Karai?"

Raph was silent for a moment, then he said, "You know, I feel like he didn't really learned his lesson in the dojo. He promised Sensei that he wouldn't do anything dangerous for the time being, but knowing him, he probably will."

"Hey, where is Leo anyway?"

Raph put his hand on his face, and said annoyingly, "Ugh, he must be out there now."

They ran out of the lab and Raph checked Leo's room. Nothing. "Clear!" Raph called out.

Donnie checked the living room. Not in here either, he thought. "Clear!"

Raph then rushed to the kitchen, he moved the curtain, and—"Oh, hey dude! Where ya' been?" Mikey said cheerfully, playing with Ice-Cream Kitty.

Guess not here. Then he left without saying anything to Mikey, which made him very suspicious of his older brother.

Later, Raph and Donnie met up in the living room and looked at each at one another. They didn't speak to each other at all, and yet, one gave an expression and the other would react, as if they were talking telepathically.

Then they both turned their heads towards—" The dojo!" they said in unison.

Raph aggressively slid the paper door open and peaked inside, Donnie looked too. It was... empty. Not even Master Splinter was in there.

Quickly, Raph turned his head to the lair's exit and shouted, "That—!"

Donnie then looked at him with worry, and said softly, "Raph?"

He's face then lit up and smirked, because he just thought of an idea that could change his, and his younger brother's life, forever. "Donnie," he turned to him, "we have some work to do before Leo comes back, right?"

"Indeed we do." he smirked back.

They both walked to the lab and began some work. The lab was quite loud now, you could hear all the noise Donnie's handheld laser made as it joined two metals together. It even made Mikey curious what his older brothers were up to, so he decided to poke his head through the open sliding door.

"Hey dudes," he called out, walking inside now, "whatcha doing?" he started to look at Donnie's project.

Raph and Donnie then looked away from their work and saw Mikey, he smiled. But they both exchanged glances, and Donnie continued his work, ignoring his little brother. While Raph walked over to Mikey, and didn't say anything, which kinda made him feel concerned. Raph towered over him, he looked menacing from his view, which made his smiling face fade.

Raph then finally said, "It's time for you to go." And he pushed Mikey out, and slid the door quickly shut, leaving his little brother out of their secret project.

"Dude?" he whispered, as a single tear ran down his face. ————————————————————————

One week later...

Leo woke up with a jolt, unsheathed his katana, and looked around his room. Nothing. "Hmmm, weird. I thought I.." Then his door slowly creaked open and —

"Dude! Are you still sleeping?" Mikey questioned. "Check your clock." he took a seat on Leo's beanbag.

Leo saw the time now: 10:30 AM. He yawned, "Thanks for waking me u—Oh my goodness, what is that smell?!"

"Breakfast." he answered quickly.

"Alright, I'll be there in a second."

Mikey then left, feeling accomplished, and hummed to himself.

Leo got up, grabbed his bandanna, and walked to the kitchen.

"—and that's why waffles are better than pancakes," Donnie finished.

Raph looked annoyed and said, "Yeah, right. In your nerdy dreams."

When Leo pushed the curtain out of his way, he yawned again. Mikey even started to wonder if Leo had a midnight mission or exercise.

"Hey, good morning, buddy." Donnie said, when he saw Leo enter, "Do you care for coffee or tea?" Leo then glared at Raph, not bothering to answer his brother's question. "Ok..."

Mikey then asked, "Hey, Dee, did you ever find out on how to reverse the... the thing-of-a-bob?"

Donnie turns his attention to Mikey and answered, "Well, if you mean the brainworm—"

"Yes, that."

"—we got months ago, then no. I haven't found a reversing agent yet."

"What!!" Leo thundered, suddenly very interested in what Donnie had to say. "What do you mean you can't 'reverse it yet'."

Donnie sighed. "Leo, you have no idea how complex Baxter made these brainworms."

"I may not, but that's why you MUST keep on trying different chemical-things!"

"You mean chemical bonds? Well guess what Leo, if I start mixing all sorts of chemicals into the same solution, then it could create a negative chemical reaction! Might even cost us the lair if it explodes! With us and Master Splinter with it!!"

"You're the one who's going to explode!"

Raph and Mikey had witnessed this event and wished they hadn't. Leo and Donnie were now budding heads, arguing. It eventually led to Splinter's attention that two of his four sons were fighting again.

"What is all this fussing about!"

All the turtles then shut up and looked at their Sensei. But Leo broke that silence and said, "Master Splinter, Donnie hasn't found a cure for Karai, even though it's been months." he paused, "And I fear that with everyday that passes, Karai continues to get further and further away from us.. I often think that eventually, she will permanently forget about us."

Splinter put his hand on Leo's shoulder and spoke softly, "My son, I know you're worried about Karai—I am too—but that does not mean that we have to push Donatello to work quicker, because after all, we want to help her, not make her situation worse."

Leo nodded, then Splinter left the kitchen to his mediation room, and Mikey exiting with Ice-Cream Kitty to watch tv.

Leo's nod might have fooled Splinter, but both Raph and Donnie looked at each other and knew that Leo hadn't learned his lesson, even coming from their Sensei. No, they know what Leo is planning, and they have to stop him before he hurts himself... again.————————————————————————

I was asked by @jdw-man-123 to compete in an art challenge(you can see the post if you wanna try it out too here) called the “Draw the Turtles With Your Own Design”(DTWYOD) challenge! Essentially you invent your own TMNT designs depicted in the iconic Eastman and Laird comic book cover scene.

I went for designs that included something from every version of the turtles, including scars that they have or get in different series. I recently watched the Batman Vs. TMNT movie—which was absolutely spectacular btw—so their designs have a lot of that art style. This challenge was super fun! I always love a good prompt! :]
