Thank you Anon I love you for the yap fuel. So, when I started this painting I initially was just doing background practice because I'm like. Super garbo at it rn but improving. But there's almost always some sort of backstory or meaning behind my drawings, and I never yap about them because uhhh I'm huge rambler I never shut up but here we go
Here, we see Leo separated from the guys - placed in the foreground, while they stand turned away from him in the mid-ground. A pole splits the composition — and he's touched by gold lighting while the others sit under the dim fluorescents of the train station. They face the brightness of the train lights as they blur past them, closer than they should be to the yellow paint warning them away. They stand together slumped and wait their turn, visibly exhausted by some unknown ordeal. Mikey leans on Raph for support. Donnie stands just slightly away from the two, lingering. Their backs are toward Leo. They don't seem to search for him. His absence is normal, now. Leo is facing away from the golden light behind him, rejecting it as he heads deeper into the station— but there's no urgency in his step. This distance between himself and his brothers is something he's already come to accept, though bitter it may be. He is still heading for them, because he'll always follow his brothers, wherever they go, no matter the distance between them, whether it be vast or miniscule.
There are plenty of ways to interpret this but I kinda narrow it down to two. It could be that Leo is waiting for his brothers, tailing them as he waits for their time to come. Or, it could be that they wait for his time. Standing by the train that they know he will inevitably board, ready to be at his side when he joins them. Either way, in the end, they'll end up together. That's how it's meant to be.
