The one thing I have to take away these first couple of minutes from this deleted scene is just how the whole scene feels so…homey. Tom’s making breakfast while Maddie and Sonic enter the kitchen, with an adorable placement at the island where all three of them have plates at the table with Sonic sitting across from them.

Sonic of course is exhausted after doing late night “crime fighting” and his parents are completely aware but still act as if everything is normal. Tom serving Sonic his stacks of pancakes, saying it’s “just the way he likes them” while Maddie gives him a glass of orange juice

Just…..god I love this deleted scene exists so we can always hush over it cause I love how it demonstrates how close they’ve all gotten in less than a year and have daily routines where they eat breakfast together. Just, *chef’s kiss* absolutely wonderful.

I keep thinking of one of Tika Sumpter’s interviews where she mentions how Maddie is the calm, laid-back parent and Tom’s the more anxious one and I just really like that so much.  Especially because, as sheriff, you know, he’s very collected and cool, organized, but everything is a situation that has to be handled.   Like, my girl WOULD be the one just strolling through the library, checking out a few books to read in bed, or at work between appointments, while Tom is the one looking shit up at 11:45 PM on his phone, chewing the inside of his lip, because he can’t sleep until he knows the answer to ‘child eight small mammal fox eat chocolate harmful how much’ or whatever.

I think knuckles would just kinda slip into calling them mom or dad rather than having to be told its okay, and maddie and Tom are alright with that :)! They were outside doing yoga at the start of this, Tom, sonic and tails were all playing in the actual garden :)
