Big Ben is the nickname for the Great Bell of the Great Clock of Westminster. It’s on the north end of the Palace of Westminster in London.

SO! Originally, we called it ‘the clock tower’ because… Look at it. :/ But we renamed it the Elizabeth Tower I think in… 2011? Maybe 2012… I’m not good at dates.

We did that because we were marking the ✨Diamond Jubilee✨ WHHHOOSSHHH- of Queen Elizabeth the second. (England and their Elizabeths, ikr)

The tower was designed by a Mr. Augustus Pugin and Sir Charles Barry in the Perpendicular Gothic style. The tower has five bells… I think? Yeah. Five.

it has a whole bunch of engraving kinds of things for Queen Victoria and stuff for the UK yaddayaddayadda.

We all know the tower is tall, but it’s stands at 96 meters or 316 American units. In comparison, the beautiful lady liberty stands at 93 meters or 305 feet in freedom units.

Big Ben is actually the big fat bell in the tower! His legal name that would be on his passport would be “The great Bell.” He plays a E-natural

(but I think our cracked bell of Liberty that plays a nice E flat is cool too.)

That ‘natural’ part is WRONG. Big Ben over here had FACE LIFTS. The bell was recast on 10 April 1858 at the Whitechapel Bell Foundry as a 13.5-ton bell instead of his original 16 ton. I would guess that his original sound was lower then… because he was more heavy? I dunno.

Is that Autistic enough for you? I’m better in World History as a whole… but y’know.
