I'm obsessed with how blatantly you can see, when the camera is following him, the masks that Essek wears as well as the situations where he doesn't. He floats around the Lucid Bastion and speaks deferentially but professionally to his superiors and associates, showing very little emotion and keeping much of his opinion to himself. He puts on a very intentional arrogance when he arrives in Trent's lab, shoving down his frustration and fury. But when he's home, he stops floating, he says what he's thinking even though he knows it's at odds with his mother, and he is not particularly shy about being obviously emotional, whether because he feels too much to hide them in that environment or because he does not feel the need to. We don't see him with his guard down in the campaign until far, far later, but from Eiselcross on, you can see a similar demeanor, albeit often with guilt-motivated hesitation, with the same kind of earnestness and forthrightness, and it's so fun to see that up front in a way that wasn't possible in the campaign.
